  1. Any eSata cable - bar the cheapest of the cheap - should be fine.

If I were looking for one, I would get one of these SATA cards - purely because they would work with the software linked to on the page - and use a separate PCI slot bracket to convert one of the connectors to eSATA.

Thanks for the suggestion I will place an order.

  2. I recently bought a Seagate Freeagent pro 500GB external drive. So far I have tried with SATA to ESATA brackets and 2 differenet brand eSATA cables, but for some reason my Vista won't recognize the drive. I have done all the basic stuff like loading new bios, loading drivers, enable RAID in bios , enable SATA ports in bios etc. Can someone recommend a good eSATA controller and eSATA to eSATA cable that will surely work with this drive?

I tried the drive on 2 different machine - one with builtin eSATA port and other with sata to eSATA bracket. Same issue.

  3. Hey Guys, now that Vista has been out for a while, I just wanted to get your guys opinion on what is the Best Internet Security Suite for Vista? I have been using Avast for my virus protection (happy) and I have been using mcafee for my firewall protection (not happy). Mcafee is really starting to p*** me off. Its slow and it uses alot of my resources.

So if you guys can recommend some really good Internet Suites for Vista, it would really solve my problems that I am having right now. Thank You!

    P.S. Fusion :hello:

I use Kaspersky internet security suite 2007. Works great. Not taking lot of resources. I am happy with it.

  4. Hello,

I bought a new system that came with 500 GB disk running Vista Home premium. Factory install has partitioned it into 3 partitions. One hidden for system recovery image. The second one the actual C: about 228GB and a 3rd partition called Data d: for about 230GB.

Now the problem. I want to repartiton my c: into smaller chunks like 50 GB for boot and the rest of the space for 2 more partitions. I have used Paragon Partition Manager 8.5 for similar tasks before. But paragon now shows c: as not formatted !! . There is no option for shrink or anything. Vista's disk management shows it can shrink it to 140GB mark but not to 50 GB I was looking for. Any work around to without reinstall?

Also can I use any Vista media for reinstall on this system with the using OEM key sticker that came with the system? Because my Acer system didn't come with a recovery media but gave an option to build one. But that will restore the system to the factory default setup with the same 228GB c: drive which I don't want :(

  5. Only thing I need to get working with my vista BUT.............well it's not working. :( Can't seem to find any drivers at all.........maybe somebody's got a workaround method?

Just extract the driver for windows XP on a folder and let vista pick up the driver from there. Works fine for me. Good Luck! :thumbup
