  1. I've followed the excellent instructions on this site to create an unattended XP install CD, including hot fixes. I couldn't get any of them to work with the /integrate command by the way, so I opted for the 'older', bulkier, method, but that's not the point of this note. After an initial install, I ran Windows Update to identify required hot fixes and then created a second CD with nearly all the hot fixes, but accidentally overlooked KB886185, KB904706, & KB911565. Nonetheless, I did a clean install of that second CD's version of Windows (on a Compaq e500 into which I later install a Belkin wireless card if that makes any difference), and all was fine. Ran the Belkin driver install CD and then have wireless access to my desktop PC, including the ability to browse the net via the PC's internet connection. As I say, everything was fine. I then ran Windows Update again and it downloaded any necessary further hot fixes, including KB886185, KB904706, & KB911565, and everything remained fine. But, I thought to myself, why not create a third CD with KB886185, KB904706, & KB911565 also slipstreamed. That's where the problem lies. Everything is fine with that third clean install, except that no matter what I do I simply cannot share the internet connection. I can have wireless network access to my PC's files but internet is a definite non-existent impossible non-starter. I then did a clean install of the second CD, and once again found I could have a shared internet connection over the wireless card. That is why I know there is something funny with KB886185, KB904706, or KB911565. I have not narrowed it down to which one as yet, but wondered what other people might have to say?
