  1. My apartment complex only gives me one ethernet connection in my room and my router recently broke. Until I get a new router I want to use my second netowrk card in my main windows PC to host an internet connection to a Sparc Ultra 2 that I am working on restoring. Ive tried connection sharing and using crossover cables and regular cables but I havent been able to get an IP on ol sparky much less an internet connection. The most Ive gotten is limited or no connectivity, a messsage which recently has been a bain on my computers. Does anyone know of the correct way to do this, or a third party software that can create a router on windows?
  2. We have had similar problems here with new computer and onboard RAID controllers. Even when we completely disabled RAID it would still BSOD on first boot. This was most prevalent on the Dell XPS 600 with an nForce 2 chipset and RAID controller, we never had one of those work right. Our solution was kind of a work around, but it did work. We ended up using nLite to integrate all the drivers available for the motherboard into the unattended windows disk. That way you don’t have to "Install a 3rd party RAID controller" since the drivers are already integrated into windows. We don’t typically use nLite, so I'm not sure if it will work if you used it to build your image from the start; we have had problems with it in the past not letting us integrate anything new into the image. I hope this help.
  3. It seems to me that the majority of people using unattended installations work in the IT field and use it when setting up new boxes (at least thats what I use it for), so the game performace issue wouldn't be much of a problem. If anyone does know how to do this however, I would also like to know. The Genuine Advantage hotfixes take the longest when getting the newest updates
  4. I posted this in the wrong forum origionaly, hopefully it will get more views here. I've recently been trying to make our unattended do more on its own rather than require us to go through a list of steps after it finishes. I was attempting to tackle the Local Security Policy today and found a hang-up. While most of our settings can be made using a template or registry keys, I can't figure out how to remove the "everyone" tag from "Access this computer from the network." I also need to be able to change the LAN manager authentication level. Neither of these two actions are easily done through the Microsoft Management Console, which I am using to alter the remainder of our LSP; and the reg keys I found for the lan manager wont merge into the registry properly. Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.
