  1. Hi, I'm new to this forum and am hoping someone can help with an issue I ran into... Every time I run Windows Media Player 9, instead of it running, I get the error "an internal error has occurred". I used HFSLIP to create a new installation of Windows 2000 with SP4 + rollups/hotfixes (followed the instructions at http://www.vorck.com/2ksp5.html to create a Windows 2000 installation with IE removed and all related stuff removed at install). I used the following instructions from Step 5 of http://www.vorck.com/2ksp5.html to integrate Media Player 9: "Media Player 9 Download the WMP9 Installer. Place this file, MPSetup.exe, in the HFSVPK_SW folder. The script automatically integrates it into the svcpack folder. Download WindowsMedia9-KB885492-x86-ENU and put it into the HF folder. (When this hotfix is placed in the HF folder, the wmp.dll is slipstreamed into the source, and when WMP9 is installed later on, the correct version of wmp.dll will remain.) Support for fully slipstreaming WMP9 is not planned. It's way too much bloat and TommyP doesn't use it. WMP9 may be a recommended update according to WindowsUpdate, but that doesn't mean you need to bog down your PC." So this gives me a Win2K installation with a Media Player icon. I click on the Media Player icon and the WMP9 install starts, but at the end and every time it's run I get the "an internal error has occurred" error. Am I missing something obvious? Any help appreciated. Log files are attached. Reports.zip
