    Ryan's pack is only for 32-bit windows, and maybe Xable's too. Check it.

    Yes they are 32bit only and that is what I'm trying to intergrate the hotfixes into, a windows XP pro 32bit. I have nlite on my pc running vista 64x. :rolleyes:

    Im running Vista 64x trying to update a win xp pro with hotfixes. I have tried ryan's and xable's neither will not finish, I get a dialog saying "nlite has stopped working" just before it finishes. I also got the same when trying to remove componets....i believe it's nlite crashing.

    running nlite v. 1.4.0.5

    Yes 2622....click on the properties of your ntoskrnl.exe then the tab "version" to see what version you are running..............

    When this XP "Boot Screen" thing started, the only version of "Ntoskrnl"

    was version "5.1.2600.0"(SP-0). But since then, the folks at Microsoft

    have decided to make "Critical Updates" that change the version of your

    Original "Ntoskrnl.exe" to either 5.1.2600.31(SP-0), 5.1.2600.1106(SP-1),

    and 5.1.2600.1224 (SP-1/SP-2), the newer version 5.1.2600.2622 (SP-2)..........of course u knew that. :blink:

    The Most important thing to remember is to make your "Boot Screen" with

    the very same "version" as the one located in "Your" Windows directory!

    Namely "C:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe" or "ntkrnlmp.exe" for multi procs.

    The text at bottom on both sides........Identification is bliss!! :angel

    BTW......It is a "Personal Edition"

    delboy did you add the new ntoskrnl to the system32 folder under $OEM$\$$\system32

    and Krisman your pirogoeth.exe ( file name is to long ) 8 letters only, pirogoeth = 9. it is being ignored.

    thern you are right.....when you use MU it sometimes updates the ntoskrnl.exe file. Keep this in mind and backup your hacked file before doing windows update.
