  1. Hi My laptop has been randomly rebooting lately. A message saying that DCOM Server Process Launcher Service appears then there is a timer and it shuts down. From Event logger: The DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Reboot the machine. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. In the Application part of events viewer, there are also numerous messages saying that: Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00a19e52. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. along with Fault bucket 555734912. I am running WinXP SP2 with Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.1.411 and Outpost Firewall any ideas what is going on? thanks
  2. Hi, I did an update repair after I had issues with vista. Problem turned out to be with NOD32 but I didn't work that out till after I did the update repair. I updated from Vista Business x64 to vista business x64 as I read it can fix issues that windows repair can't. Now Asus utilities and Daemon tools and alcohol are screwed up. I have tried uninstalling and deleting every single reg entry related to these programs then running a registry cleaning software (winutilities). After this I try to reinstall but the drivers that these programs need NEVER install. SPTD v1.50 x64 for Daemon Tools and Alcohol and Asio.sys from the Asus utilities. Is there anyway to manually install them? ie manually put them in the right folders in windows then use task manager to execute them? Or am I screwed and should pencil in a reformat sometime? thanks
  3. Finally solved. Tried upgrade repair but didn't work. did some more searching it turns out NOD32 IMON had gone haywire for some reason causing all the issues. turning it off solved problem with IE
  4. As of recently, I have been having problems with network connectivitiy. when windows starts up I am told that windows live messenger has issues and is shutdown and that windows client is having issues and is shut down. IE7 x86 version cannot detect the proxy server and when I close it I am told it has issues and is shut down, usually followed by an error saying that Dr Watson has issues and is shut down. IE7 x64 is fully functional however. I tried firefox thinking it's an IE issue but firefox also has the same problem as IE7 x86. I can no longer seem to access other computers on the network though I can still detect them. I think it's something to do with network settings as that was what I was fiddling with just prior to these issues cropping up. Any ideas or is it time to do a reformat? If there is anyway to avoid the reformat that'd be really really really really really really nice thanks
