Thank you but unfortunately, i also tried that along with cntl alt del and couldn't find the process running in the "end Task". It's a creative blaster external modem de5621 driver , I pulled off their site which has put me in this flat spin and I couldn't find anything on their support site. When I check my CPU usage, I get a rythmic spike that goes along with my Device mngr recycle. I need to end the loop of one of these things so I can try a restore or a complete deletion of a process that is driving me nuts. thanks again.

Any Ideas would be helpful, I tried to install an external modem to a serial port. Loaded driver first etc... Re booted and now it appears that the modem is trying to install in an endless loop. When I go to device mngr, it keeps recycling and when I'm quick enough to read it, it doesn't list any modems. when I try to reinstall anything. I get the message that I cannot install two devices at the same time. Tried to restore in safe mode, ran another virus scan, just can't find or stop the first install or remove it. again any helpful suggestion would greatly be appreciated. thanks.
