Computer 1 - Outlook Express Windows XP - Windows Auto Update on should of latest and greatest. Computer 2 - New Computer - XP Office Basics 2003 I was able to backup the address book as a .csv and move it - now I'm trying to move my messages.. The two computer are not networked together When I do File | Export | Messages I get the error The export could not be performed An error occurred while initializing MAPI I checked and found a bug work around and followed it the work around was as follows... Restart your computer, and then start Outlook Express. 2. On the Tools menu, click Options. 3. On the Connection tab, click Change to open the Internet Properties dialog box. 4. On the Programs tab, click an e-mail application other than Outlook Express in the E-mail list. Click Apply, and then click OK. 5. Click OK again to close the Options dialog box. 6. Exit Outlook Express, and then restart Outlook Express. You can now import or export messages. I still get the same error message... What I noticed was on the Internet Properites dialog box and on the Programs tab - Newsgroups also had Outlook Express listed ... and I have no other options to set this to. Also doing a Tools | Options the dialog shows This Application is the default handler... but without away to change it the button is not active. <Note The Dialog also says This application is NOT the default mail handler> My guess is since Outlook Express is the default News handler the MAPI file cannot be initiated, for the same reasons if it the default mail handler - but I don't know how to unset it as the default news handler. Or if that's even the problem. Anyone have any ideas - or another way I can move my mail messages. Thanks in advance, B
