  1. Sorry for posting to the wrong group. I did contact Pipex who said they have never heard of this and do not know why it is happening, 1and1 said something very simular and suggest I use the web e-mail service with my account, it also does not happen with this service, but I need to use Outlook, so both less than helpful. People the other end just get a file simply called ".dat" which they are unable to open. The orignal file name is no where to be seen!! Very Strange!!!
  2. When ever I send an e-mail with an attachment, i.e. Word document or PDF file, the attachment arrives the other end as a “.dat” file. It only happens when using Outlook 2003 from the PC as if I send the same e-mail and attachment using g-mail it does not happen. Any ideas please? As I say I am using… Outlook 2003 Microsoft One Care (although it started to happen before I started using this) Windows XP Home Service Pack Two, with all updates My ISP is Pipex and my e-mails are routed though my Domain service 1&1. Although I have had this set up for a couple of years with no problem until a few weeks ago (I used to use AVG instead of One Care). I have even carried out a clean re-install with no luck!!!
