I was recently given a used tower that a friend built himself, a while ago. Well he is off over seas right now in the airforce and I havnt been able to contact him. I had to reformat the system and everything loaded up fine with XP pro. I had trouble finding the sound card drivers though and its an onboard one. I found some that it accepted but I dont think they are the right ones yet because I dont get any sound. It tells me I have VIA AC97 for drivers, dont have any yellow marks in profiles. I dont know what to think, maybe my sound card died on me. I tried looking for the chipset or driver set from the asus site and had no luck. the board is A7VBX-MX SE. I have a sound card here that I wanted to try to use, i have the drivers for it but when ever I slip the card in and try to start the computer, it wont start or gives me a device drive error. I tried going into bios to see if I can disable the onboard sound but couldnt find it. I am looking for some advice on what I should do or if someone knows where to find the right drivers for this board. I hope the card aint shot.
