  1. This is a strange problem, and for the life of me, I can't figure out the cause or how to fix it. When I receive a .jpg or .gif image embedded within an email, I have no trouble viewing it but I am unable to easily save it. I'll right-click on the image and choose "Save As" and attempt to send the image to a particular folder. When I open the folder, I will find the name of the graphic under one of those generic box icons that ask "Choose the program you want to open this file:" when you click on it. (When I look at the Properties window, I see that I have saved the image but without the image extension, which is why it won't open. If I manually add the extention to the image's name in Properties, I can then rescue the image.) However, if someone sends me a .jpg or .gif image as an email attachment, I have no problem saving it the first time. If any kind soul out there can figure this one out, please help!!!! I have Outlook Express 6 and I use Windows XP Home Edition.
