  1. I was running IE8 (and still had problems), however other users who had trouble were still on IE7.
  2. Thanks for the reply, however I tried doing that, but then another file shows up and it goes on and on. It mainly seems to affect bookmarks. Since we noticed it happening after I installed IE8 on the server, I uninstalled it and haven't seen the problem since.
  3. Hello, I'm having a weird problem with roaming profiles. I patched my win2003 servers (including IE8) the last week of April 09. Ever since then, some of my users including myself are seeing a error message of "profile cannot be copied to server" everytime we logoff. Then on logon a similar message of file "c:\doc..\profile\my docs..\favorites\something.url" cannot be copied to "c:\doc..\...\favorites..", "you will be logged on using a Temp profile" shows up, thus loading a temp profile instead of the actual one. On the server side, I checked the path and I tried to delete that particular URL file (logged on as admin), unfortunately it doesn't let me do it. I get an "Access Denied". I can see the properties, however there's only a general tab, and NOT the usual Security and Summary tab. On the user side (WinXP), I notice some Prf*.tmp files under the Favorites. On opening those files in Notepad, I see they're mainly the links, with the BASEURL, ICONFILE etc in it. For a workaround I created a newuserprofile copied their settings and pointed it under Active Directory, and it works, however for some reason it starts picking another URL and gives the same problem. This is very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!! --S
  4. Ok, so I have my unattended WinXP CD that works fine. I recently got a new DELL GX620 and since it has newer drivers, I thought about trying the slipstream them into the unattended WinXP CD(my first time doing drivers). I followed the instructions for the winnt.sif way. So, I extracted them and saved it under C:\WinXPCD\$OEM$\$1\Drivers\001_chipset (for the Intel) 002_video etc... and I also added the two lines : OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_chipset;Drivers\001_network;Drivers\002_graphics;Drivers\003_audio" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore So then I made my CD and tested it, however it didn't work. I know the drivers are correct, since I can "manually" add them once I am in Windows, but I would like for it to be done automatically? Any advise or help would be appreciated. Thank you!!
  5. I have created an Admin install of Office2003 with SP2 on our network. The install works fine. 3 new patches came out - KB892843, KB907417, KB911961. I extracted and then tried to slipstream those into my admin point folder, using the following cmd: msiexec /p [mspfile.msp] /a [networkdrive:]\Office2003\pro11.msi SHORTFILENAMES=true /qb. It didn't give me any errors. However when I try to install Office on other computers using that same install, and run OfficeUpdates, it comes up saying I need those 3 patches. Can someone tell me as to what am I missing or is the cmd I'm using incorrect. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you *edit * -- I do notice that on going to officeupdate.microsoft.com, I DO NOT see those 3 updates at all, however when I go to update.microsoft.com I DO get the 3 updates. Any clues? ideas?
  6. Hello, I recently purchased the LG GSA-4167B DVDRW drive and have problems regarding DVD-RAM discs. I do have a standalone Panasonic DVD Recorder and have been using the Panasonic DVD-RAM disc to record TV shows. Will that DVD-RAM disc work on the LG drive? I mean can I view the shows on my computer as well, or is it a totally different format and you *cannot* do that? Any ideas or suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you
  7. Hello, I am having some problems with my unattended install especially with the Hibernation and the Classic Folders. I have the Hibernation=1 under the unattended section. However for some reason, the Hibernation is not disabled. Also, I am using a cmdlines.txt file which runs a reghack and I have the follwing in the reg file: ; Use Windows classic folders [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "ShellState"=hex:24,00,00,00,33,88,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\ 01,00,00,00,0D,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "WebView"=dword:00000000 But this doesn't work either. All the other reghacks in the file works fine, however this is the last one in my .reg file and I still see the "Show Common Tasks in folders" enabled all the time. Can someone please help me with this? Thank you
  8. Hello, I'm a newbie at creating unattended installs, however I have been successful at some attempts. I have a cmdlines.txt file saved under the $OEM$ folder on my install folder, along with the .reg file. The cmdlines.txt consist of the two lines: [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT.EXE /S regtest.reg" Now when I try to actually burn the CD using Roxio 6, it wants me to change the $OEM$ folder to _OEM_ . I did try that and burn the CD, however none of my reghacks worked, thinking it didn't accept the _OEM_ folder. What can I do to correct this? How can I burn it correctly without renaming the folder? Second problem: In my winnt.sif, under Components I have the follwing: [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off zonegames=off netoc=off The main reason I put in netoc=off was the fact that I do not want any of the Networking Services under Add/Remove Windows Components to be installed at all. However after the install was complete, I checked that the Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client was still checked under the Networking Services. Am I correct to assume that the "netoc=off" didn't work? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
