Hi,
I've never been able to pull this off properly.
When I do a raw from scratch install, I always customize the time format to HH:mm:ss (ie, 24-hour clock) and the short date to yyyy/mm/dd
I also add an international keyboard at original install, but that part I can figure out.
I do this primarily because I like it . If I don't do this at install, the default user uses the m/d/yy and hh:mm:ss tt. Now each and every new user profile must be changed. Worse anything generated by the localsystem account is in the m/d/yy etc format.
Also, at work, we have an industrial plant that goes 24-7, so it actually works out easier to scratch installs than having to have ambiguous date info lurking all over.
Even when I do this, the customizations are lost when (or if) I sysprep. (I *HATE* sysprep).
I've not tried any other unattended install methods, and have installed each and every machine at work from scratch. If I build a machine "the way I like it", then sysprep, new machines I create have the m/d/yy formats for localsystem and default user.
Can anyone tell me (or point me to the instructions) how to do this correctly?
Regards,

Hi,
Ended up here while going through the steps to build Bart's PE, and stayed to build a fully slip streamed XPSP2 w/ all the toppings.
I'll probably need help a lil later when I go to do this for my x64 boxes.
Also, I'll be posting a Q about unattended installs re How do I customize time formats in an answer file?
Glad to have found this resource!

Cannot "Open containing folder"
in Windows XP
Posted
Platform:
XP Pro (valid) SP2 + all patches to 2006-12-01
IE 7.0.5730.11IS
The problem manifests itself two ways:
:=In a search results window, right-clicking an item and choosing "Open containing folder" has no result
:=After downloading any file type, clicking "Open folder" has no result.
There are no error messages
There are no event log entries.
I've not used tweakui on this machine.
If I remember correctly (don't count on it), I have not added or modified any registry settings for Explorer.
My best guess is that it is a security setting somewhere, but I'm at a loss.
I've searched this site for "open containing folder" and come up dry (at least where this issue is concerned).
No luck elsewhere either.
Any ideas?
A happy & prosperous 2007 to all...
