  1. I have tried that, but the uninstaller refuses to accept that .msi file as useable, again I have no idea why. I used winrar to get the .msi file and extracted it to the desktop but it still won't do it. I'm getting so frustrated by the whole thing
  2. Hey there everyone. My first post and all and its a bit of a cry for help really... I had what I thought was MSN 7.5 installed on my machine when a couple of weeks ago I was prompted to update. Trusting MSN as I always have in the past I clicked to download. the download finished and it tld me I had to restart Messenger to sign back in. Okay so far. I restart mesenger, and it won't dign me in, telling me I have a problem or other so I click troubleshoot and it hangs as soon as it starts to check DNS. Okay I thought, I'll just uninstall and reainstall, see if that works. Uninstalled, rebooted, tried to reinstall and it tells me that it can't re-install as there is a problem: error 1635, try downloading the latest version of messenger - particualrly frustrating as thats exactly what caused the problems in the first place! So I try to se what the problem is, and find that MSN Messenger 7.5 is still in the add/remove programs list but I can't remove it as it has already been uninstalled it can't find the msnmsgs.msi file that it wants for some reason. Now I have tried to download the file and tell the uninstaller to use that but to no avail, and every time I try to re-install I get the same message about error 1635 etc. I have tried contacting MSN help about the matter but they just gave me the same info that is on their site verbatim. Hope you can help, anything would be appreciated...
