Wouldn't it work if you just did it through a theme?
0 -
It's way better to use a patched dll. It'll save you just that much more space for another app to install.

For winRAR sfx's Be sure to set the modes to overwrite always and silent and put the extract to path in there as well. Then all you got to do is "somefile.exe". No switches or paths needed.

why not just use a patched UXTheme.dll?
0 -
i tried that and it didn't work for the sfx files. only the initial 7zip installer

Everything went well except for a few things, (user error's of course). I forgot to put a cmd file to install AVG antivirus silently and I forgot to remove the old cmd file Entries under GUIRunOnce in Winnt.sif (Form my last super installer). Other then that it worked great.

Maybe it could be usefull for some people.

nevermind didn't work

I was gonna do the same thing but from the 7zip help file there is no silent install switch for self extracting archives, only the inital 7zip installer
-------
Edit:
I was just looking throught the switch stuff again in the help file, I think it's -y just like the installer
For more info, Look in the help file, > commandline > swithes > -sfx

Silent Installation
Installation of UltraEdit is normally performed by executing the uesetup.exe without any
parameters. This leads the user through the installation allowing the user to select the
appropriate location and options.
When this is done, a file install.sss is created.
In some cases it may be desired to perform a silent installation of UltraEdit to allow
automated unattended installations. This is possible with the following setting:
uesetup /s
Under normal circumstances this will perform a silent install with the default settings. Any
files that would be required to be downloaded from the WWW normally should be
downloaded and in the same directory as the uesetup.exe file to avoid prompting for WWW
download.
To customize a silent install, run the uesetup normally selecting the appropriate install
options. After this has been completed, copy the install.sss that is created to the directory
containing the uesetup.exe and rename it to uesetup.sss any future silent installs will use this
file to specify the install options.Note, the install.sss was not made in install from folder. but rather the install to folder

I was just test a little reg file to see if it worked before I made the cd and it's not doing anything
the is the reg file.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
;Disable "Search Dog"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState]
"Use Search Asst"="noand the is the xml stuff
<execute display='Applying other reg tweak...' program='regedit' arguments='/s "%SYSTEMDRIVE%\PostInstall\other.reg"' />
I have it setup up like so
C:\Xplode stuff
C:\PostInstall
and I've also tried putt the xplode stuff inside the PostInstall folder too.

You'll have to extract the setup file cause I haven't gotten any switches to work.
Make it a WinRAR SFX or something.
You'll also have to have to it install already and registered too. Once it is, export this reg entry and import it when you need to register after an install. It is in hex.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EmSoft\Regist]

Sometimes when you download a new theme, you'll find that it is missing the actual theme file. This is how you get it to work and make a theme file
Go into your themes folder "\Resources\Themes\" then the subfolder for the theme thats missing the *.theme file and double-click on the msstyles file.
When you do it will open up the desktop properties page and be set to the appearence tab.
Now go to the desktop tab and pick you wall paper.
Finally go to the theme tab and save your new theme and put it in "\Resources\Themes\"

You could do like I did and add Hirens' Boot CD 4.2 to it. It's only somehwere around 15 MB.

Mostly using gosh's info.
It boots to this menu;
XP Home SP1 Retail
XP Home SP1 Unattended
XP Home OEMPrinstall
Install Maxtor Drive
Install Western Digital Drive
Techworm Boot Disk
Madboot Disk
Hirens Boot CD 4.2
---------
Search on google for info on the last one
if you want to know more.
I was trying to get Winternals Admin Pak 4 to go with it too, but it wasn't working. Any advice on it would be helpful.

i figured that, but where does it go? i386, root, or elsewhere?

After slipstream SP1 I noticed there was a option to install the .NET Framework from the autorun menu. It's towords the bottom after you click on Perform Additional Tasks.
I am already doing a silent install for this but I was curious as to how to make it work from the Autorun Menu.

Im not using Commandx in the GUIRunOnce and it works for me

First off, No .theme file is normal. Just double-click on the msstyle file. It will change your desktop. Then you can go to the desktop properties and save everything as a new theme file. This will then be the theme you will use.

Wallpaper & Screensaver
in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Posted
Well this is what i do. with a patched UXtheme.dll of course
Go get a theme you want. Put it in you theme folder and change you current theme to that. Then make sure the wallpaper you want is in the web\wallpaper folder and set your background to that Then save the theme. Then just put all the files in the right spots on you XP cd
