OK-I did the safe mode for services.msc per Vipers suggestion. My computer is now acting very funny, tons and tons of pop ups, locks up in certain things so......I thought I would just go back and reset the settings as they were before but....when I try to go to services.msc, it gives me an error message and I can't get into it. I also thought then I would go to system restore but that gives me an error message also. Now what? Oh, if I go to system restore through the "Start, Programs way" I can get there but there is no restore point (date) to pick--I have always had restore dates I could pick to solve a lot of issues. Any clues--now I am basically cimputerless and working on my wifes laptop to get this message in here! Thanks in advance! Moderators: If you move this message, please advice me wheer you move it to? OK--I know this might be a super simple solution for most of you who use this forum but for most of us, stuff like this is confusing. I am trying to disable certain items on my MSCONFIG to increase my start up speed. If I disable everything, certain programs won't run. If I keep everything enabled, the start up is super slow. Brand spankin' new laptop. What can I disable and what do I have to keep enabled? I have heard both: disable everything and some say to keep certain things enabled? Can anybody make this simple to understand? Thank you!

Years ago I removed Fax Console using the add/remove programs. I recently purchased a scanner/fax/copier/printer and I would like to recieve faxes through that. It stated I have to enable the Fax Console in XP to receive faxes. But I removed it. Is there anyway to reinstall it off of the restore disck or is there a website where I can download it? Thanks all for your help--new to the forum!
