  1. @triplex - my fileset is language neutral. try the sp5 fileset (even if you are using sp3 or sp4) anyway, you'll have better results. no one has ever reported this file missing. it's a modem driver file, and maybe you're the one person who has a computer that looks for it and the bug was just waiting to be found? anyway, as i say, try the sp5 fileset. it's been known to work with every language; if you are at wits' end, you could take out your modem, install the os, and add your modem back i guess. you will see it has its own section in the TXTSETUP and LAYOUT files, and i am not sure why microsoft did this.

    1. There is no modem connected to PC (VMware).

    2. If I get this error while in setup mode (file copy from cd to hdd), then there must

    be something wrong with an .inf file, does it .....

    3. I took a closer look at your files and I guess I found the bug in one of your .inf´s

    It should be a simple typo mdmrpci.inf -> mdmrpciw.inf

    4. Attached two pics to light up things.

    5. Will debug and try again once more.

    6. Used unmodified W2K SP4 with sp5files.zip

    EDIT: Files debugged, at least for German version 2 bugs found:

    - Typo? in LAYOUT.INF

    - Typo? in TXTSETUP.SIF

    Under [sourceDisksFiles.X86] rename mdmrpci.inf -> mdmrpciw.inf

    Then setup (filecopy) from cd to hdd runs flawless.

    Now lets see if setup part two works ...

    EDIT2:

    It installed just fine.

  2. @triplex - this is the right place for this, but hfslip only tracks its own errors, not those from my fileset, and the mshtml error was an obscure directx 9 issue, see tommyp's post below)

    :huh:

    Sorry to bother again, but somehow I don´t get it :blink: ....

    Even if I use W2K SP4 slipped only, then copy your sp4files.zip to i386 and burn, I still keep on getting "mdmrpci.inf" not found, OS doesn´t install (DX9 not used).

    Are your files for English lang. only?

  3. @tripleX - Please use the un-adulterated error_report.txt file when posting, it has all the information that is needed when HFSLIPping.  BTW, HFSLIP automagically generates it when HFSLIP is run.

    Hmm, well :blink:

    I ripped error_report.txt from script and added some info´s related to my problem which were not covered by it (imo for this special case).

    It is a problem with FDV fileset, if this here is the wrong place for this, please let the mods delete this post and/or ignore it :blink: .

    Kind regards

    @mods

    Please add ability to delete posts :huh:

  4. @triplex - You still are NOT setting up the folders correctly.  Can you please post your error_report.txt file?

    Sorry, I edited the above post.

    I was replying to kukris who wanted an error report from a german user.

    I also edited the attachment, which should now be o.k.

    @fdv:

    I am having problems with your ie removal fileset.

    With or without hfslip, it doesn´t work.

    The OS won´t even install.

    See attached error report for details.

  5. @triplex - Found the errors (actually Microsoft induced errors) with file versions and file dates.  Hopefully you have set an example here on error reporting so I can quickly fix things.  I fixed some other stuff while I was editting the file.

    @All - New version is up with HFSLIP fixing Microsoft errors.  Please use the error_report.txt file to report any issues.

    This was expected, the guys at M$ did make many errors lately.

    Thx tommyp, I will try the new version on XP immediately.

  6. @tripleX - You can slipstream your msxml sp7.  Throw the msi installer into the HF folder.  Regarding the issues you have with your installation, please follow the error reporting procedure in the first post of this so I can help you out.

    Done, check attachment.

  7. @TommyP:

    Attached the WU.txt.

    It doesn´t show the missing 890046 fix, but the cmd line version of

    mbsa 2 does, after manual installation of 890046 mbsa 2 is happy.

    Setuperror detailed information (add. info to my previous post):

    - msxml3.dll sp2 orig version 8.50.2162.0

    after slipstreaming version 8.50.2162.0

    (maybe the mystery sp7 version expected ?)

    - winhttp.dll sp2 orig version 5.1.2600.2180

    after slipstreaming version 5.1.2600.1366

    Edit: Msxml3.0 SP7 is available from MS, here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...74-F752BDCA9582

    Would it be possible to slipstream Msxml3.0 Sp7, too?

  8. @tripleX - According to KB890046, it has no bearing on the line you quoted from HFSLIP.  The line you quoted was due to a webvw.dll issue.  If you have issues with your installation, please post the results from HFNETCHK otherwise I can't help.

    O.k., let´s see if I can find this tool, in the meantime I installed (again) a slipstreamed version made with hfslip-050818 and the result -> I will do it the "official" way for now ...

  9. Just jused hflip 050827 to slipstream my WXPPro SP2 German

    After installing mbsa2 says KB890046 is missing (was copied to HF).

    Event log complains about msxml3.dll and winhttp.dll not beiing correctly signed (setuperr.log) .

    Has this something to to do with:

    REM AUG 20, 2005 - ADDED A FILE TO KEEP FOR THE BROWSING OF LOCAL NETWORK. DON'T COMPLAIN IF THERE'S A MISSING WINDOWSUPDATE.

    ?

    If yes, can this "feature" be removed or uncommented (Rem êd)?

    Using hfslip 050818 again, hope this works without a flaw.

    Thx

  10. To TommyP:

    Used hfslip, rev 081805 to slipstream XPPro(SP2) - German - hotfixes.

    While installing got an copy error message: "Empty.txt" not found.

    Edit: Text from setuperr.log:

    H:\i386\Empty.txt wurde aufgrund folgenden Fehlers nicht nach C:\Programme\Movie Maker\Shared\Empty.txt kopiert:

    English: H:\i386\Empty.txt was not copied to C: because of the following error ...

    I tried 2 times making a (german) slipstreamed cd, 2 times the same error.

    I took a look at the "Original" SP2 CD, Empy.txt is present in \386 folder, it seems it simply doesn´t get copied by script :blink: ?

    Could you please take a look?

    If this has been allready posted, sorry.
