Hi! I'm running a 3-monitor setup and I've been having problems updating my video drivers. I've asked in many places - XFX, Nvidia, Matrox, and people tell me that I should contact Microsoft. I tried calling but some Indian guy who barely speaks English told me to pay $35 because I have an OEM version of Windows. Here's the original letter I sent to XFX, maybe some of you guys have some clues? I bought my 6600 GT (XFX) from newegg.com a while ago (maybe half year). I love the card, it runs fast and 100% stable. About 3 months ago I upgraded to a 3 monitor set up. I have 2 monitors running off of my 6600 GT and 1 running from some old PCI matrox card with 4 mb of memory. I didn't have any problems getting that setup up, and it runs 100% stable, never crashed on me. Now, currently I'm running 66.93 drivers for the 6600 GT and "5.1.2001.0" Microsoft drivers for the "Matrox Graphics Mystique". Peer pressure and other factors convinced me that I should update my driver (since they're like 77.xx already) because they can significantly improve the performance of new games. So, I download new drivers from Nvidia's website, install them. Everything goes smoothly. As soon as I restart my computer, the windows gets frozen at the "windows loading" screen (the one after the BIOS loading). I restart in safe mode and use the "system resotre" feature (I run XP pro SP2 btw) to get back to where I was before. I try different drivers, everything from 66.99 to 71.xx to 77.xx... same problem everywhere. If I try to remove the PCI card - the drivers install just fine, but as soon as I put it back in - I have the same problem - windows freezing before it loads. Also, in my BIOS, PCI is the defaul video adapter. If I change that to AGP (which is the 6600GT), I AM able to get past the loading screen, but as soon as I get to the "select account" screen, my two montors on 6600GT become black, and the PCI monitor starts flickering with the disorted image of that "select account" screen. The only thing I haven't tried is updating the matrox dirvers (I'm not even sure where to find them). So, do you have any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks!
