  2. I think I fixed that when I spoke with Microsoft support, they said to intall the August post sp3. Now, I keep getting metabase update failure on all the exchange server. I called microsoft support back on this issue and they are stumped on it. It seem to fix the problem once I run setup /domainprep on the domain controller. I told microsoft that setup /domainprep will get the exchange back up and running but it is only temporary. Anyone else experience this problem? Thank you Tony

  4. This solved my problem with prompting username and password but one of my user discover another problem. When ever they login, they get a window that say login failed or cancelled. Strange.
  5. I enabled the anonymous login on the front end server and restart iis. It is still giving me the logon prompt. Thanks Tony
  6. First question is what is your budget? SAN is expensive because you have to setup an infrastructure to support your san, this mean you need to buy, San Switch, HBA, Storage. The transfer rate between the server and storage is about 2 GB to 4GB depending on the HBA and san switch. NAS or Iscsi is cheaper because you just need to buy the storage and use existing ethernet infrastructure. If you are transfering extremely large files or database (SQL, Exchange) the San is a better solution, but keep the cost in mind.
  7. Thanks chilifrei64, Your advice and suggestion for previous question has help me alot.
  8. Have anyone experience when you click on the logoff button, you are presented with a logon? It require that I have to logon again to logoff. Interesting issue. My current setup is Exchange 2000 with SP3. Thank you
  9. Is there a way to setup the front end so user just need to type in http://mail.test.com instead of http://mail.test.com/exchange? Thank you
  10. I will run the test on Monday when I get into the office. I was also doing some research on the net and discover that Mcafee Viruscan 8.0i block outbound smtp port 25 by default. I hope this is the problem and I can just edit the policy. Thanks
  11. The reverse entry is pointing back to my dns name not my isp. I am able to resolve the mx record to my email domain. All the domain I mention earlier are domain name. Where should I try to telnet on port 25 from? Is it from my exchange server? Thank you
  12. In smtpdiag, I used smtpdaig user@mydomain.com user@yahoo.com. I checked the dns and there is a reverse dns. If there is a reverse dns, what else could be the problem that it is not allowing to send outside domain? Thanks in advance.
  13. What does it mean when I used smtpdiag and it eror out at Checking MX Server list for jsmith15@yahoo.com connecting to mx3.mail.yahoo.com [64.156.215.7] on port 25 error: expected "220". Server is not accepting connections. failed to submit mail to mx3.mail.yahoo.com Thanks
  14. I have installed a new exchange 2000 environment. The active directory domain is called abc.cde.xyz.com, the email address is the same as the active directory domain. All my server is in abc.cde.xyz.com domain, the dns has a forwarder to outside dns to resolved outside domain. I am having problem sending email to hotmail, yahoo, all outside domain. I am able to send email to a parent domain called cde.xyz.com, the parent domain cde.xyz.com is not in the same network so it resolved thru outside dns server. When I used smtpdiag, I got an error during the phrase checking mx record and got error 220, server is not accepting connections. Thanks in advance
