Thanks for the reply but I am aware of ABR, used it months ago when I first found the thread here on MSFN
Guess I was not clear in my OP, the OEM key that HP installs does not work anymore. I was always under the impression that key would always be accepted by MS.

anyone else was asked to activate their OEM (i have a HP laptop) yesterday
Woke up, turned on the laptop to do a little reading and the first thing I get was a prompt asking me to activate windows, after six months this happens!
I did go to HP online help and as usual did not get any so I just entered the key that is on the sticker, all went well but still I wonder why why now

[Fix] Vista SP1 RTM Unexpected Shutdowns When resuming from hibernation
When a computer wake that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) from hibernation, It gives the following error message: "System was shutdown unexpectedly". This issue occurs when the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store contains incorrect information for the Resume from Hibernate entry and it can be fixed via following these steps.
1) Run cmd(Command Prompt) as Administrator and type "bcdedit -enum all" without quote. It displays all identifiers that are used to make desire function in BCD (boot configuration data).
2) Look for "Resume from Hibernate" segment and copy its identifier like: {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}
3) Now at the end, type the following command "bcdedit /deletevalue {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} inherit" without quote.
After all that Vista SP1 will no longer shut down unexpectedly instead of resuming from hibernation.
Hey thanks, worked like a charm.
I had two images (Acronis) one of Vista64 and the other XP and decided to dual boot. Made a small partition for XP, restored XP to it then ran startup recovery (VISTA )twice, used VistaBootPro to add XP and all worked out except the Hibernate issue.

Hi
Decided to post this in Unintended since it is directly responsible for the desire/need to write SCCU. If mods wish they can move/delete.
SCCU allows you to create class objects with custom context menus of types:
Icon
Shell object
Folder
Existing Folder
Short Cut
Icon and Shell object types can be placed in Window’s namespace:
Desktop
Control Panel
My Computer
Network Places
Entire Network
Link to Inno setup and a ziped version. Oh this is my first Windows program so be gentle…

Hope you get it to boot

HI
go here http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/w...sp2-bootcd.html
Follow all steps for both ISObuster and Nero, Except when Nero loads and ask type of New Complilation choose DVD, then drop down and choose DVD-ROM Boot.
Works for me and I hope it will work for you.

Hi,
I am just learning this but first thing i noticed with your CMD file was %CDROM% and was wondering if it should be %systemdrive% instead?
Your files were copied over to the souce drive?
Hope it works out

Personally I find BV's suggestions worthless but if it floats your boat go for it.
