  1. Yup, everything seems to be in order there. How very frustrating.
  2. I do not have a bartPE disk, but I'm quite sure that it is not hardware since I am able to ping out with no problem, it's just browsing and IM's, etc. I did also try a system restore from two days ago, and no luck there either.
  3. Seems to be set correctly.
  4. Yup, that is all fine.
  5. Just tried it, no luck.
  6. I did try the "repair" item a few times, and also did the "netsh winsock reset". Neither of them did anything.
  7. If you are referring to Internet Explorer. It does give a version number.
  8. As a test I turned off the firewall. So, no, it should be free and clear to send and receive.
  9. This is a strange one, and it started happening yesterday, but I did not perform any change to my system, so I do not understand as to why this would happen. 1) In DOS window I can ping yahoo.com and google.com- it works fine, I get replies, no packet loss - so DNS etc is working. 2) I am able to transfer files between shared folder on Laptop and Desktop. 3) Laptop does have email and browser access without any problem 4) I have turned off the firewall, and both the laptop and desktop are behind the same router. So, I think my desktop NIC card, cable, router, cable modem - all are fine. The PROBLEM: From my desktop, I can not access internet for email or browsing. Ping does work but browsers crash. It appears that TCP based protocols are blocked. There is nothing suspicious in Task List. Thought it might be the winsock, so I netsh'd it, but that didn't help either. If anyone can help me on this, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you...
