I apologize if this has been brought up previously but I've searched for the past two hours and can't find anyone who is trying to do exactly what I'm doing (maybe for good reason). I have a Compaq DL380 G4 server with an integrated 6i controller. I also have a image for said 380's but for the G3... not much changed between the generations except they went to the 6i controller. When I image the server with my 5i image I of course get an BSOD about an Inaccasable Boot Device. My question is this, is there a way to modify my server so that it will load the 6i controller driver? The 5i driver IS actually the correct driver for the 6i, but apparently Windows does not know that it can use that driver. I can boot using a WinPE CD and gain access to the files on the hard drive, but I need to know what to modify where to get this thing working. I would love to be able to drop in a 5300 array controller (same family as the 5i) but when I do that the BIOS comes up and complains about old hardware being installed and to remove it (Thanks Compaq!! Let me guess, you want me to buy a new array controller?) So, anyway, I can't boot to an older supported controller and then just move the drives over to the 6i after Windows does it's magic. Any tips or assistance is GREATLY appreciated, I'm really stuck on this one. And yes, I'm being stubborn, I don't want to have to come up with a new image just to support these servers, though it might be the faster soloution, I know there has to be SOME way to get this working right. Thanks!!
