  2. Hi, I have just tried again to install the 'update' onto my 98SE partition, and again i had the same problems as described above. Can anyone tell me if this is an update? Or do i have to un-install my 98SE operating system, re-install it as per the Installation instructions. In the order that i have read, as i am somewhat confused here. Because when i last used your product in mid 2004, i did an update onto my system. And i had no problems in doing it. But, now if i install the update onto my C:\ drive as it is, i get no end of problems. Such as no boot up to 98SE, just the black screen with words and a flashing cursor. I did a manual reboot, and went to Safe Mode, Scandisk, Repair Errors, which it did. Another reboot and again 20 mins with no loading of 98SE. Questions: If i have to re-install 98SE from scratch to install this update, and in the order described the other programs as well. Can anyone explain why? Because if i do so, i end up destroying my XP boot up as well. As it takes out my dual-boot setup, by having to re-install 98SE from scratch! Thanks.
  3. Hi erpdude8, Thanks for the reply. I can confirm that i have my 98SE partition on C:\, and XP Home is on the D:\ partition. I will have to make a Norton Ghost backup of my C:\ again. And i will try to install it again over the next few days, and let you know what happens with it. Thanks
  4. Hi to all, I recently updated my 98SE partition on my dual-boot computer, with the latest version of the Un-Official pack. And i could not get my computer to boot into 98SE. I got the update pack from the download page, and then installed it. My computer restarted, and during the 98SE bootup it restarted again. And 98SE went into Safe Mode, i did nothing and rebooted again. And when the computer got to the black screens with words on it. All i got was the screen stuck, and a flashing white cursor for 30 mins. I rebooted again and went again to Safe Mode. Ran System File Checker, that then said that Notepad.exe was corrupted. I copied the file from my copy of the 98SE disk on my hard drive. Continued the rest of the check, nothing else found. I ran Scandisk - nothing found Then i ran Registry Checker - no extra backup made. I rebooted again, and again it went through the two black screens for bootup. And then went to a blank black screen, with a white blinking cursor on it. And there it stuck again for 10 mins. CTRL-ALT-DEL did nothing. So i re-installed my Ghost backup of 98SE, and i await any ideas on this problem? As i was using an earlier version of the program from mid 2004. And that was ok, but this one does not seem to work for me. Software installed: Ad-Aware SE Spybot Avast Free Spyware Blaster Tweak UI Cacheman (Limiting memory 764MB to 512MB) Latest 98SE updates from Windows Update. Thanks in advance.
