I would go with Adobe Premiere Elements if you want something cheap but capable.

He's probably using the modem because it's less traceable for file sharing. (Just a guess)
First you should try the modem on another computer if you have one. If it does the same thing try a different modem. If fixes the problem then it could be the OS or hardware. If it's the OS, then can just reinstall it. Someone else might have better ideas though....

Stay on topic guys (btw, the theme patch does work, you just need a new one from here: http://markwatson.us/files/uxtheme-server03sp1.zip (use this to patch it: http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/)
could anybody tell me if there's a significant performance boost in sp1? i'm comfortable on windows 2003 and dont want to update to sp1 unless theres any performance boosts. i really dont care about improved security.MS stated there is. To tell you the truth I didn't really notice much of a difference, but I didn't do any speed tests, and I only used vanilla Server'03 for a few days (If that).

Hello, my name is Mark. My computer is an Athlon 2400+ with 768mb ram, and 40gb hard drive. The Video card is a via something or another. Right now I have Arch Linux and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise on it. Usually I am designing websites with PHP/MySQL. Oh, and I don't use smart quotes in MS Word.

Microsoft will never, ever, make longhorn or any of their OSes use the UNIX kernel. It would be the same as MS going out and saying their platform stinks, and UNIX/Linux is better. It just won't happen.
The reason why the bought licenses from SCO is probably because the need them for Windows Services for UNIX . (Services for UNIX is a product for interoperability between Windows and UNIX.)

It's going to be very, very nice once it's not in alpha and released. I can't wait.

[PHP]How to store web pages using PHP?
in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)

Well you could use the function file_get_contents() and pass it a url and get the html in a string. Then you could save the string in a database. The only problem is it wouldn't download the pictures, but you could make a script that parses the html and finds the <img> tags and gets the images based on that.
