  1. Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5 Even though this latest version is a .exe file, it uses the Microsoft Installer. So the switches are: /QB Reboot=Supress or /QN Reboot=Supress
  2. Sorry I took so long to get back to you, Westi. But when I tried installing Webshots for the first time, I got errors like crazy. Then when you sent the correction I was like, "YES!!" The whole thing took about 10 seconds to install. I haven't tried Spysweeper yet, though. I'll send you a PM when I do. I am so indebted to you.
  3. Can this DirectX be used in Windows Server 2003?
  4. Does anyone else use this program or have this problem?
  5. I was just wondering if you could change the default font in Notepad to....say.... Verdana in the unattended installation process.
  6. Yes, Rancor, you can put your reboot.cmd in Windows or Windows\system32 and have your batch file point to it. You can delete it manually after install if you wish. Whether you use pause or not is up to you.
  7. Well I was unable to find v4.6 but I got v4.7 and installed it but I'm still getting the same error. Ugh. The thing is, NTI CD-Maker automatically installs it's ASPI drivers after the software installation but something is preventing it from doing so. And for the life of me I can't understand why. What could cause it? (I'm really frustrated because I need this app.)
  8. PM sent for Spysweeper, Westi. Still can't download Webshots.
  9. During my unattended installation of NTI CD-Maker I noticed it would stop installing ASPI drivers and then move on to the next app. When I open the program an error message pops up saying "No Supported Drives Detected". Now, of course, I can't use it because it won't see the drives and hence the discs. (I really like this program because it's the only one I know that reads multi-session discs) You think it has to do with my registry settings? ;Changes Windows Driver Signing Policy 'Prompt' to 'Ignore' [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Driver Signing] "Policy"=hex:00 ;Remove & Disable Shared Documents from My Computer [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoSharedDocuments"=dword:00000001 ;This will add "Services" to the right-click menu of "My Computer" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\services] @=hex(2):53,00,65,00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,73,00,00,00 "SuppressionPolicy"=dword:4000003c [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\services\command] @=hex(2):25,00,77,00,69,00,6e,00,64,00,69,00,72,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73, 00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,6d,00,6d,00,63,00,2e,00,65,00,78,00, 65,00,20,00,2f,00,73,00,20,00,25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52, 00,6f,00,6f,00,74,00,25,00,5c,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00, 32,00,5c,00,73,00,65,00,72,00,76,00,69,00,63,00,65,00,73,00,2e,00,6d,00,73, 00,63,00,20,00,2f,00,73,00,00,00 ;This adds the "Open Command Window Here" on the right-click menu for folders [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\cmd] @="Open Command Window Here" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\cmd\command] @="cmd.exe /k \"cd %L\"" ;Disable the Desktop Cleanup Wizard [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\CleanupWiz] "NoRun"=dword:00000001 ;Disables Error Reporting, but notifies when errors occur [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PCHealth\ErrorReporting] "DoReport"=dword:00000000 ;Disable Messenger Service (to block spam. 10. What finally worked for me was to rename my wallpaper BLISS.JPG then from the command prompt type: makecab BLISS.JPG to get BLISS.JP_. Then replace the BLISS.JP_ in the I386 directory with my new one. (Can't remember who suggested it but it works)
  11. Checked Windows Update and it's not there. But it is in my Start menu\All Programs list. Just not in Add or Remove Programs. Strange...........
  12. PM sent, Westi.
  13. Off topic: What does the "/NoMigrate" in WMP9 do?
  14. Uninstalled and reinstalled it and now it's not showing up in my Add or Remove Programs list. Uh Ohh.....
  15. Gosh, gosh, I can't believe you really think your contribution to the forum is not appreciated. I mean, it's people like yourself, and Numinous, and everyone else (except me ) who have made this forum THE place to go, not only for unattended XP stuff but countless other little treasures you'd be hard pressed to find. Trust me my friend, this forum needs all of us. You, me and everyone else. (Well not so much me.) Hope you will reconsider. And that goes for anyone else who dares to think of leaving.
  16. Nope. Checked again. Still 4,088.00 MB (If I knew how to copy & paste it I'd show you)
  17. I may be out of line but, could I ask one of you knowledgable folks to do a .vbs script for an unattended install of Webshots Desktop and Webroot's Spysweeper? I have tried the /s, /silent, /VERYSILENT, /R , /QB..................You name it, I've tried it. I even tried .vbs scripts myself but failed miserably. (Probably due to the fact that I don't know what I'm doing. I just changed a couple of settings on Westi's Adaware 6 script to see if it would work) Help?
  18. A minor problem but, looking in my Add or Remove Programs list, the size of Windows Messenger 5.0 is 4,088.00 MB! I know that's not the actual size but why is this so? It doesn't affect anything does it? (Windows XP Home SP1a + Update Rollout + Critical Updates + Recommended Updates except Q817778 & Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer)
  19. What exactly didn't work, Rancor? Did the PC not reboot? Did it login before rebooting? Did it login and restarted after the countdown finished? This is a copy of my Reboot.cmd which worked perfectly: cls @echo off echo. shutdown.exe -r -t 60 -f -c "Whew! I thought it would never end." pause echo. exit Notice the all important "pause" which makes the command window hang if you don't push any button. It will keep hanging until the time runs out, then TA DA!
  20. Also, you could just use the shutdown utility that came with Windows (found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\). So your *.cmd file would look like: cls @echo off echo. start /wait %systemroot%\system32\shutdown.exe -r -c "Restarting the PC to Facilitate Changes" -t 60 -f echo. exit Of course, the comment "Restarting......" can be changed to whatever you like (maximum 127 characters), and the time can be 45-60 seconds. (For a list of all the switches, type C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe /? from a command prompt. Also note: The entire command should be in ONE LINE.)
  21. Found it! Oddly enough it was the 142KB QChain.exe file I put in the SVCPACK directory. (It asked to be extracted to C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\ and were two files: eula.txt and a 43.6KB qchain.exe) Which begs the question: Which QChain.exe file to put in the SVCPACK directory? The one for 142KB or 43.6KB?
  22. Well, Thanatos, I used pskill.exe just after PopUpCop was installed and maybe it did stop Internet Explorer from launching but it didn't stop the Internet Connection Wizard from running. I still had to hit Cancel. There's no escaping this one is it.
  23. Just installed PopUpCop with the /s switch but when it's finished it opens Internet Explorer to log on to the company's Website. How to prevent this in an unattended installation? Register it: ;Registration for PopUpCop 2.0.3.17 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PopUpCop] "RegCode"="XXXXXXXXXXXXX" "UserName"="My Name is, Slim Shady"
  24. At one point during the hotfixes installation a message box appears asking me to specify a folder to extract some files. After hitting OK (the default directory is C:\WINDOWS\system32\......I think) I get "Files Extracted" and the installation continues. Has anyone else encountered this? (Or maybe it's attributed to one of the Windows XP Home Edition hotfixes?) I did both the SVCPACK.INF and Windows Update methods and got the same thing.
