  1. This one? ;Use small icons for start menu programs[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]"Start_LargeMFUIcons"=dword:00000000"Start_MinMFU"=dword:0000000a
  2. Visual Effects settings have been a sore spot for a while now. I don't think anyone has figured out how to set them the way they want it. I think it's because the settings are stored in more than one place.
  3. What is the tweak to not have "Set Program Access and Defaults" in the Start menu? (Not the link in Start Menu\Programs but to have it unchecked by going to Start Menu->Properties->Customize...->Advanced.)
  4. If you want, you can disable it with a .theme file. Your.theme: [boot]SCRNSAVE.EXE=
  5. I feel you, 1n]d[y. Of late, CDImage has been giving me the same problem. I truly don't know why it started behaving this way. So what I've been using now is UltraISO. The .iso file created may be a few megs bigger than with CDImage but at least I'm not getting any errors. Maybe try it without the -o switch. Of course you won't get an optimized image, but it's worth a shot.
  6. No attached picture or the exact wording of the error? Maybe it's the WMP9 /DisallowSystemRestore switch, or what Alanoll said.
  7. A truly heartwarming story ......... A young family moved into a house next door to a vacant lot. One day a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers. She hung around and eventually the construction crew, all of them gems-in-the-rough, more or less adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the first week they even presented her with a pay envelope containing five dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who said all the appropriate words of admiration and suggested that they take the money she had received to the bank the next day to start a savings account. When they got to the bank the teller was equally impressed with the story and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied, "I worked all last week with a crew building a house." "My goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?" The little girl replied, "I will if those useless bastards at B & Q ever bring us the f****ing plasterboard."

  10. This happens to me when I try to apply a theme (or .msstyle) that is not located in %systemroot%\Resources\Themes\. That is, from, say, D:\Install\Themes\blank.theme and not C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\blank.theme. Is this what you're doing?
  11. So maybe just turn it off then? As opposed to removing it? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18138
  12. Hmmm, I don't think so. Import the HKCU tweaks via cmdlines.txt to have them set for all users.
  13. What error did you get and what switches did you use for taskkill.exe?
  14. Maybe easier? WINNT.SIF : [Components] SystemRestore=off
  15. Poor kitty.
  16. Details view: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=17800
  17. You might find something useful here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=17081
  18. Well you can use cmdlines.txt to create users. A nice search should do you good.
  19. That was awesome!
  20. Poor guys are so tired. It could also be a nice act........
  21. Thank you, maxXPsoft. I had no idea. How to have Attributes checked by default unattended? What I'm really trying to accomplish is to mimic the exact behaviour of the Details view as it is in Windows 2003. You know, where if you create a folder titled "My Music", you automatically get Artist, Track Number, etc listed. And if you create a "My Pictures" folder you get Dimensions, Date Picture Taken, etc.
  22. @ Professor Frink: See the very last entry in pmcx9's regtweaks.reg file. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=15631
  23. ;Details view [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams] "Settings"=hex:09,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,77,7e,13,73,35,cf,11,ae,\ 69,08,00,2b,2e,12,62,04,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,43,00,00,00 I know when the tweak above is used, you get the Details view with four columns. But in Windows 2003 there are a couple of additional columns (Attributes, Dimensions, etc.). What to do to get those additional columns to appear in Windows XP?
  24. Old school cool, indeed.
