  1. There is a way. Open Windows Explorer. Click View and check Status Bar. Then go to Folder Options. Click View tab. Click Apply to All Folders. Click OK. Tada. This should also force Internet Explorer to display the status bar all the time.
  2. I install the system. I complete the CD-KEY screen and initial setup. The computer reboots, goes through the Windows XP loader screen and then loads a screen with just a blank screen with a mouse cursor in the middle. That screen then remains for about three minutes. Then the computer reboots to repeat the process. I have used two separate copies of XP Pro slipstreamed with SP2. I have a corporate edition and a retail edition. The problem happens with both versions. However, the problem is non-existent if I use an XP CD that has not been slipstreamed with SP2. It is only CDs with SP2 on them that this issue occurs. When I install the OS I only connect two IDE devices. One hard drive as IDE-0-Master and one DVDROM as IDE-0-Slave.
