A company, feeling it was time for a shake-up, hires a new CEO. This new boss is determined to rid the company of all slackers. On a tour of the facilities, the CEO notices a guy leaning on a wall. The room is full of workers and he wants to let them know he means business! The CEO walks up to the guy and asks, "And how much money do you make a week?" A little surprised, the young fellow looks at him and replies, "I make $300.00 a week. Why?" The CEO then hands the guy $1,200 in cash and screams, "Here's four weeks pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!" Feeling pretty good about his first firing, the CEO looks around the room and asks, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-off did here?" With a sheepish grin, one of the other workers mutters, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's." http://www.absolutelyjokes.com/profession/...g-shake-up.html

http://maxxpsoft.com/files/hometab.php -> http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_home_sectab.htm -> that's where I got the info from. I installed SCESP4I.EXE, but it looked too simple. Just stuck a couple of files in there. RegShot told me that registry entry was the only major change it made. So I went back with System Restore and did it manually. It worked by just putting the dll in and editing the registry value. Then I found the patch. The dll is looking at only three keys in the registry: Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Option Value: OptionValue Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA Value: ForceGuest Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Value: NoSecurityTab The patch changes the path of that first one to SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot Option (slash to a space) which causes the dll to not even find the key. What I don't understand is that under safe mode, that Option value is set to 1 (AFAIK). Under normal operation, it (and the key containing it) doesn't exist. So by causing the dll to not find it even in safe mode sounds like it would disable the tab altogether, making the dll think your always in normal-mode. But... it works.

Ever wanted a simple way of getting that pro-only security tab on XP-home? Yeah, yeah, you can get it by booting into safe mode, but how do you get it under normal operation? One way I have seen is to install the SCE/SCM for NT Server 4.0, but that puts in an older version of the dll without the "Effective Permissions" feature (and possibly with other problems as well). I ran across this simple way of doing it... I mean really simple! Two methods... 1. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Option" and set a DWORD value named "OptionValue" to 1. This takes effect immediately. However, if you restart with this value still in, Windows will function, but it won't load Visual Styles and other normal-mode-only things. It's best to just use a reg file to set it to 1 when you want the tab functionality. 2. Easier yet is a patch: http://www.rt-sw.de/en/freeware/freeware.html It changes ONE BYTE in rshx32.dll (a backslash to a space at 0x9F0), saves it under a new dll name, and registers it (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1F2E5C40-9550-11CE-99D2-00AA006E086C}\InProcServer32). This also takes effect immediately, and works perfectly in SP2!

I don't. It's true that many people do, though. I know they say they have proven it, but give me an article. What exactly did they do? God: A being of supernatural powers or attributes. Who's to say it's impossible for an all-powerful God to have done that? I haven't researched evolution, but I look at it like this... If I can "prove" God exists, and you can "prove" evolution is true, there must be a problem with one of the "proofs", for they contradict. People want to reason away God, because they don't want the accountability. They are so centered on life in this world, that they are not willing to believe there is another. When I die, I'll disappear from this universe, leaving a legacy behind for my children. If it turns out that God doesn't exist, oh well, no harm done whether I believed or not. But if God truly exists, I'll either spend eternity with Him for obeying His command to believe and doing what is right with the life He has given me OR I'll spend eternity regretting my unbelief. Which is safer? There have been more deaths, but there has probably also been more hypocricy in religion than in anything else. People stereotype it over and over again, and refuse to look at the fundamental things God said: 1) Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and 2) love your neighbor as yourself. # When did God ever say it was right to kill for religion? Never. # When did God ever say that you could get to heaven by ONLY being a good person? Never. You have to love the Lord as well. (see also Matthew 19) # When did God ever say that once your sins are forgiven you will go to heaven whether you continue to sin or not (like XtremeMaC implied)? This is one of the most common twists, but still: never. (see http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/spiritualdeath.htm and http://www.behindthebadge.net/osas/index.html) These are stereotypes, misunderstandings by many "Christian" leaders. -

So do I! I'm pushing it on you? Really? You chose to make your first post here. I listen to other people's beliefs all the time, and if I don't like them, I leave. If I want to understand them more or argue my own viewpoints, I stay. Freedom of religion. NOT freedom FROM religion. That's exactly what I think about evolution. But anyway, I think the book When God Doesn't Make Sense is the answer to such questions as "Why did this happen to me, of all people?" or "Why does God answer some people's prayers, and then completely ignore other people?" and even explains things I never knew before about the Christian faith. I'll send you a free copy if you'd like. Just PM me. -

I've got a little time up here in Montana, so I've posted two articles somebody gave me... Why Did Jesus Die? - http://www.leaderu.com/isr/articles_resour...idjesusdie.html There's a big difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Not only were they written at different times, but the New Testament was written after Christ came to earth and taught us the way we should live. Scientific Evidence for the Existence of God - http://www.layhands.com/ScientificEvidenceOfGod.htm Name an inconsistency in the Bible, please. I really would like to know what you guys see as inconsistent. -

XtremeMaC Whoa. Just hold on a minute with your questions. How old do you think I am? You're asking me questions as if I know all that? Can you prove that an atom exists? Can you prove that Adam exists? (They even rhyme!) No I can't prove that. Like I said, you have to believe. "You know, a couple weeks back"... I don't think that was very nice what she did. Even I wouldn't be interested in that after the way she acted. I think people can believe what they want. But I also believe that life's utmost goal is to tell others about God. You posted on this topic (wow, that was only yesterday!), going on about Christianity, so I had to at least try to defend it. I'm leaving on a vacation tomorrow morning with my family. We'll be back in a month, and we can resume then (maybe in its own topic) when I'm more prepared to answer these kinds of questions. I really want to continue this argument/discussion/whatever, but I have to go. Until I get back, I'll be praying for you all. You may say, "Don't" and "No point", but I know God listens to my prayers and will do something about them. With Faith, all things are possible. Bye, all. See you in a month. -

I never said God controls everything. I said he guides life. People can kill each other if they want, but if God doesn't want somebody to die, because it is not their time, he will make something come up to prevent or stop it from happening. Sure I do. I pray for you. I pray for my friends and for our government. But I don't have church services, prayer meetings, etc. And I don't think serving God takes so much time that there's nothing left for having a family. I want to do both. Yes, I want to please that "being in the sky" who loves and cares for me. If he answers in a way that I could not have imagined, then did I imagine he exists? I find THAT hard to believe! Like, what kind of church were you in that God didn't work in? If God doesn't exist, what is intuition? When all of a sudden you have a feeling you should do a certain thing, and after you do it you realize that just saved you from some terrible event. Is that really chance as well? If God doesn't exist, what is human conscience? How can you explain why we feel certain things are wrong? If God doesn't exist, how did Brother Andrew make it into China with the Bibles (that is not a story)? Do you think it was just chance that they looked right at them and didn't see what they were trained to find? See this article: http://www.pointofview.net/partner/Article...1800372,00.html The Bible is not a novel. It was written over a period of 1500 years. How can you explain scientifically the fulfillment of a prophesy? Whatever. Can you prove that an atom exists? Neither can I prove that God exists. I have seen enough evidence to convince me. I hope you will too. -

God doesn't call the shots. God made this world, put it in motion, made you and I, and is hoping we will love Him in return. He is working all the time, like I said, in hidden ways.+ My mother once had a bad problem with Athlete's Foot disease. She asked God what she should do about it, and into her head popped the idea of using vineger. She did so, and the disease went away just like that. You think this was just scientific, that it was just chance that she had an idea she had never heard or read about in her life? +My neighbor just told me yesterday that she went on a trip with one of those cargo-carriers on top of her minivan. While driving in traffic, it slid off and sprawled their stuff all over the freeway. While waiting for the police to show up, a man out of nowhere came and started pulling their clothes and boxes out of the lanes, not one car hitting him. After the police came and filled out a report, she looked back at the freeway and the man was gone. Do you think any person in their right mind would do what that man did? God sent an angel. Look at the man Job in the Bible. What did God do to him? He let him suffer the most inhumane things to test him, to see if he would stay true to his beliefs. Then, sometimes, God just takes sombody away from earth early. Their time was up. They've done their job. "God is using the present, even the miserable present, to conform us to the image of his Son." (Do All Things Really Work Together for the Good?) When somebody has a disability, God uses that especially for some purposes. He may be talking to him in his heart, and someday he may witness to other people for Christ. You never can tell how God is working, because He will always know more than us. Medical science can indeed do much good. But so can God. I am not in a position to explain what happened. Christianity is not a cult by definition: A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader. I am a Christian, and I don't have any rituals, ceremonies, services, etc. etc. I don't even gather together on Sundays with other Christians. I don't know much about Lutherans, but you make it sound like you spent ALL your time doing religious activities, "fighting to get into heaven." What made you decide, after being Lutheran for 5 years, to stop? Do you not hope for the future? When you die, will you really only care about the legacy left behind, and not anticipate what God has for you on the other side of eternity? As always, you are the moderater here at MSFN, so please tell me if it is breaking the rules to talk about this subject. -

un4given1 <- God forgives. I'll just say this: I've seen Him work myself, so I know He does exist. Why should He do miracles anymore. He came to earth once, and people rejected Him. Now, He's waiting his time, letting people choose what to believe, doing things in hidden ways, guiding life and those who believe in Him. -
And make sure you disable any firewalls on the computers (well, until everything works). They usually block file-sharing requests without saying anything.

I didn't mean when he comes back as if he wasn't here. I guess I wrote that wrong. His presence is here all the time. But he will come back in a different form. My point was only that the world will still exist when that happens. No, I think God made everything. But, I guess I can't blame you for laughing. There are religions that even I think are funny. I agree that in a public place, it's only fair that I not impose on others, so I'll shut up now. -

Sure did. A belief in God is central to my life. I don't see how people can go on about what we are going to do about the comet. I don't want to get into a history discussion, but btw if you don't believe in God, how do you think America came into existence? -

Did people forget that God said HE would destroy the earth when he comes back? There's no point getting ready for the great event, unless you plan on not going to heaven when He comes. -
Somebody could have hacked your PC, or trojaned some spyware on to it, or just plain guessed your password. Change or cancel any other account with that password while you can! Anybody using your stolen account can bid using your credit cards. Put a fraud alert on any credit cards associated with the ebay account or paypal account (if you have one)! ID Theft is real! Extra precaution is never harmful. What does BootItNG say from DOS? It has some kind of Undelete partition utility, but use at your own risk, because I don't know what it does.

I doubt that is true, but I don't have any browser to prove you wrong with . (I have only Firefox... Okay, I'll admit IE still exists on my computer.)

Reverse Enginering?WTF?
KJxp replied to sIn_maxo's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
Reverse Engenerring is something geeks do when they have a few days to sit down and analyze the program. Showing the binary codes is very simple for a program to do. Showing the original code is something you pay to get done. (There might be a free service somewhere, but I doubt it.) -
>to my surprise i was able to change my visual style to an unpatched one That is what that uxtheme.dll download is for: hacking out the part that restricts users to signed M$ themes. What is the exact version of your C:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe? This would help us better in knowing exactly which uxtheme.dll is the proper one for your system.

If you want to hide Recycle Bin on the desktop, but want to keep it visible in explorer, use this reg file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu] "{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel] "{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}"=dword:00000001

Do you program? I'm sure it's not too hard to do what you want in a language like VB or C. Other than that, I don't know offhand of any program. There might be one, though.
