I tried re-installing sp2 (just dl sp2-devellopers kit) but that didn't do the job. Any other ideas? Maybe I just don't understand what you're saying. Is reloading the same as reinstalling??

No I didn't try that, but I don't know where SP2 is located on my pc. I'll look it up somewhere and try it. I'll let you know later if it did any good.

ever since I reinstalled everything, I'keep encountering weird problems I never had before. Here's the latest one: When double-clicking an unknown extention, Windows pops up a screen asking if you want to select a program yrslf, or if you want to "search the web". Now selecting the option to "search the web" doesn't open up my browser (just ie6) and visit the file-ext server .... What service or registry-entry do I need to modify to make this work again?? PC=P4-3GHZ-XP/SP2-Built2600
