  1. I just signed up with this list. I have been having a reoccuring problem for the past few months. I use FrontPage 2002 to create my websites and usually I do not have any problems with it. However, since I have installed Windows XP, I have had to format and reload my computer twice in the past 6 months due to a problem. I will be working on websites and they will be working just fine, then all of a sudden, every time I try to Open Web, the web in question will not open and a service.lck file is created. I delete it, and then restart my computer. However, after Windows reopens via Windows Explorer it takes a couple of minutes for the computer to find what is under My Computer (the searching flashlight icon comes on). When it finally locates C Drive, the zip drive, etc., I confirm that the service.lck file has been deleted. Then I go to Open Web and the web will not open and another service.lck file is created. In the past I have tried everything: I uninstalled and reinstalled FrontPage, performed a disk clean-up and defragmentation (both on the hard drive and zip drive on which my sites are saved), checked for updates, etc., all to no avail. In the end, I have been forced to format and reload Windows and all of my other programs and files to boot (quite a time-consuming task). I am assuming that this is some sort of registry problem, as the problems are not just related with FrontPage, but also effect Windows Explorer. At the moment I cannot work on my website so assistance on this matter would be very appreciated! Any ideas? The Acolyte
