  1. Hmmm, perhaps answering my own question here I think that I may have found the cause of my problem. This is of course from having spent (some of) my working day scouting around trying to find if anyone else has a solution or is experiencing the same problem. I've come across this MS Knowledge Base article KB 314859 which if you look at the last paragraph suggests that there could be problems copying files to NTFS. Not so sure if this could be it, but it seems to fit in part. If this is the case then slipstreaming the install would be the only way to get the RAID working as I'd always get a copy error (it also explains why I'm getting the error when using either the SI or nVidia drivers). I'll try out a slipstream once I get home and report on whether that fixes it. Don't know I want to try the FAT32 option suggested by MS, not sure if I'd then be able to reclaim the rest of the disk space. Cheers P.S. In reflection, yes this thread would have been much better placed in the Drivers thread ... I was actually posting from my PDA yesterday and didn't quite check things out as much as I should have
  2. Hi guys, Hoping that someone here can help me out as I'm about to start loosing hair over this First up, some system specs: Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 1GB Corsair TwinX 2x 80GB Seagate 7200.8 SATA Plextor 16x DVD-RW Antex NeoPower 480W So, I'm trying to set things up so that I have the two seagates as a RAID0 array with WinXP Pro SP2 installed. Idealy I'd like to set up a slipstream disk, but before I do that I want to make sure everything works OK from a more traditional install. This though is where I am having problems. The K8N has two SATA controllers, an nVidia and Silicon Image controller. I have put both sets of drivers on floppys and attempted to install both when performing a boot install of windows (that is respectively attempting to install the correct driver for the current active controller). In all cases I don't have any problems and am able to load the drivers & format the disks, until window's begins copying across all the files needed for the install at which point I get a message that *.inf cannot be copied (* being either si3112.inf or nvraid.inf or some such). I can't seem to do anything to get past this point and it is driving me nuts. I thought about forgetting the check and just slipstreaming the install but I get error messages with nLite when I try that (not really wanted to invest the effort in solving that right now). So, if anyone has any idea it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, ~Dann
