  1. I got rras installed and configured manually to be a router. The problem is it doesn't route. What do I need to do to make the two networks, 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.3.0 talk to each other? The setup is as follows: 192.168.3.101 (wireless client) | 192.168.3.1 (linksys router) | 192.168.3.2 (ethernet) Windows 2003 Router 192.168.0.11 (ethernet) | HUB---------Windows 2003 Internet Gateway (192.168.0.2) | 192.168.0.10 Windows 2003 (PDC)
  2. so i got a few problems doing an unattended ugrade of windows 2000 pro. all i want is for it to upgrade the system using the cd, and the answer files on either the users desktop or a floppy disk. below is the winnt.sif file. two issues i'm having is; It doesn't autopartition. and actually it shouldn't "partition" or format, it should just detect win2k, and install winxp. cus i dont wanna lose data or program settings. second problem i have is with the WINNT and Windows folders. win2k uses WINNT as the default, winxp uses Windows as the default. is it possible to change WINNT to Windows and have only that as the main OS directory? below is the winnt.sif file i've created. from what i can tell it installed winxp into WINNT but deleted all user accounts, program settings, etc ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=No TargetPath=\WINNT [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="12345" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 [userData] ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName="dsg" OrgName="dsg" ComputerName=wlnocpc03 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=107 AreaCode=519 [identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=0
  3. seriously? u can't use WinPE as a terminal client? what the **%$% lol. i've never tried, but now the thought sounds interesting, and it's "illegal". that would be sooo usefull to do that.
  4. product activation can be done via the internet or using a script in the case of unattended installs...... here's the link on how to do it in winxp. i know there is a guide for win2003 but i'm at work right now and i'd rather not have to search too much lol http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...oy/wpadepl.mspx hope it helps
  5. i can't give ya specific info on how to fix your problem but i can give you two tips 1) as far as i remember, you can't mount drive letters while using a terminal session. so you need to mount stuff inside folders. BUT i never tried this for usb disks, only on pgp disks. 2) older usb flash drives are mounted by Windows as physical hard drives, while the newer drives get mounted as removable devices. this at least tells me that drivers and firmware upgrades have taken place since the few years that usb drives came out. so this hints at the small possiblility that you are having a driver related issue...... but most likely not. i would look into the first point. and i would check security policies to see if terminal session users can add drivers, add devices, and mount file systems, etc etc. just cus you log in as an admin doesn't mean you can do everything.
  6. my objective is to upgrade win2k using the winxp cd and a floppy disk that has the winnt.sif and winnt.bat files on it. my problem is that during a normal winxp install, xp used Windows as the system folder, win2k uses WINNT. - if i tell winxp to install inside winnt, doesn't this just "delete" the files instead of upgrade? - also was wondering if there is a way to JUST have Windows as the folder system folder, get rid of WINNT, and still keep the upgrade settings? second problem is related to the first. during the blue screen install, i still get prompted for the partition information. - how can I tell winxp to use C: as the default boot partition? any help would be great. since i'm gonna probably have to finish all this in under 3 days. anyways, i'm off to find more info on this.
