  1. Can you still boot to XP? If so try updating chipset and video drivers then try again. I'm not saying it will work or this is the problem but it has worked for me on occation! Taggs
  2. Is your print server part of a domain? Are you trying to log on to the domain? Have you tried to login as local admin? Can you power up the server and logon to the server from elsewhere using remote desktop connection?
  3. http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/me...s/runonceex.htm and http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/ap...xp_advanced.htm Skip to section 4 at the bottom if you have your mst file These links should help you. You can either copy the app and install from the local HD or point to a network share and install from there. RIS works with the same principles as an unattended CD. If you are still struggling PM me and I'll see if I can help. No, RIS will let you add/amend/delete files in an image as you please. I've created a flat XP2 sp2 image (using RIsetup.exe) and use this as a base. Move the image (ie whole directory structure) where it is safe. I copy the whole image to the RIS image location and amend as required. Don't forget to change the image name in your sif file otherwise it can become confusing. I Hope this helps
  4. How can I create (multiple, don't know how many until the program starts)tchecklistboxes? I.E. program starts, checks for a number (from file) and then creates that many checklistboxes. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi, A 1) running ripprep on a pc will clear all windows unique setting from that OS build (so so MS says). I find it much better to create a flat image using risetup.exe or copy the image to a new directory (my personnal prefference! before anybody says anything) and then amend image. ( adding drivers, installing apps, changing cmdlines.txt copying files to image) A 2) you can add your Product id to your riprep image by putting it in your sif file located in the \\Server_name\REMINST\Setup\Applicable language\Images\Applicable image name\I386\Templates\Riprep.sif directory (along with other settings!) A 3) not sure what the difference is to question 1. Hopefully this will help. Not sure if you have used risetup.exe? Why not give it ago and see if it works for you! I find it helps me keep to a standard build for all the PC's and I know exactly what settings and config I'm going to get. I find it takes about 5 mins longer a build (depends on network speed and usage) but you can use this time to do something else. (Drink coffee , chat with colleagues , pick your nose , set another PC off building , even do another job if desperate ) Taggs
  6. I have to Choose XP pro as thats what I'm using and supporting, and therefore know the best at the moment. If you dont keep your "hand in" with a product you can quickly forget. and who keeps notes? All the ladies out there please don't reply!
  7. I've not done any programming for a while but this should point you towards the problem. This error means that the servlet identified by the URL does not implement the 'doGet' method, as a result a HTTP GET request cannot be successful. I hope this helps.
  8. I'm planning on putting WSUS on an exisisting SUS server. (We can't afford a new server ) 1) Does anybody know if it will remove/replace SUS? 2) Will SUS clients automatically connect to WSUS for it's updates? Or will I need to reconfigure the clients update service? 3) Point me to some helpfull sites for WSUS as M$ does not give me that much info about changing from WSUS to SUS! Just a fresh install. NB This is not our main SUS server! Server is also running my RIS service! Thanks
  9. @Widnez_boy Plz post back your findings if you do decide to try it! Either way.... or
  10. Or maybe post the problems you are having! E.g. wont install or error when run...etc......etc....
  11. You could always ask Trend! http://support.antivirus.co.uk/trendmicro/...G_BEGIN&appId=5 or Buy Trend Server Proctect, their product for servers.
  12. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14597 Interesting reading but dont come crying to me if you loose all your data.
  13. Hi, can anybody tell me where I can get a list of hotfixes that were released after SP2! I have all the hot fixes on my SUS server but I want to create a fresh copy of an unattended XP CD and would like a list of which hot fixes I need to add to my image. Thanks in advance.
  14. Have you stoped and restarted the boot service? (w2ks) If it still does not work after this, it has to be the wrong drivers. Have a play around with older drivers, as this has been the cause of some problems for me. Did you copy the SYS and INF files to the root if I386? Don't forget to check your driver line in your ristndrd.sif file if you have changed the structure of your driver files.
  15. Your install is looking for your NIC drivers but you do not have the correct drivers installed. Looks like you are using VM ware? Above is how you add new NIC drivers to your RIS setup. I hope this helps. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=36833&st=10 Check out my documentation, (see above link). I hope it helps Im no expert but you may find it usfull if you are new to setting up a RIS server. PS how did you sort your problem of timing out? Taggs
  16. Just had a nother thought! Have you got two network cards in the RIS server? If so try teaming them if you haven't done already. If not teamed I found funny things seemed to happen (or maybe its my lack of knowledge!) with the networking.
  17. Hi Adon, I had the very same problem some time back. It happend after I added WUS/BITS2 to the server (I think). It ended in me rebuilding the server(Doh!) as it was much quicker, at the time to get a live server up and running than try and find the problem. Two things to check, 1) the network card in the PC trying to connect to the server, try swapping it 2) Is your RIS or DHCP server behind a router (which may not be set up correctly)? Taggs
  18. OK thanks for trying! Anybody else got any idea's? I'll have a look elsewhere aswell, If I find an answer I'll post back here.
  19. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39460&st=0 this is what it will be used for!
  20. Still get them! Ignore the labels they are just a message on the screen. It is in create, as when I run the program, it runs a process and then closes with out any interaction from the user!
