  1. Sure you can, it's even switchable between win-shell and avalon..login/logout. Stable and lotsa themes around.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what Clint said, but I see no such options...
  2. It still looks the same. I reboot, looked around control panel, themes, etc. There is nothing new...
  3. Uh, ok, I installed Avalon, Indigo, etc. Now what? I don't see any changes. It didn't even prompt me to reboot.
  4. Yay! Good to konw that.
  5. So, if I have 1GB of memory and not much use for it, would it be worth installing Avalon? Can I unninstal it later? Is it stable ot does it crash a lot?
  6. I' have been reading about Avalon all around , but what does it do? I know it is the technology responsible for all the eye-candy in longhorn, but what does the current Avalon for XP do? Is it supposed to be developers only or there is another use to it?
  7. I haven't tried botting Knoppix since I don't have a copy of it, but I will download. Going to try your other suggestions.
  8. I tought that might be possible since you can remove the other folders from display. Well, thanks for the tip anyway, if anyone find out how to do it, please post it here.
  9. No, only windows. I thought it might be some kind of hardware error, so I removed all pci cards and only left the video card, still the same problem.
  10. Changing the folder icons works fine, but instead of it being displayed above "My Computer" it is being display in "Show all Programs", below "Windows Update".
  11. Saturday night I used my computer normally and turned it off when I went to sleep. When I turned it on sunday morning windows would load, take me to the welcome screen and eve log in using my user. However the only thing I could see as my wallpaper, no explorer. I tried hitting ctrl+alt+del but it didn't work. I rebooted, started in safe mode, and was able to use windows. After removing every program that booted with windows I tried again, but normal boot wouldn't work. I finally gave up and decided to do a COMPLETE format of the entire drive. Reinstalled windows, and yet, the problem persists. Do you know what is this?
  12. When you press the start button, above "My computer" there are a number of folders that begin with "my", such as "My documents" and "My images". What I'd like to how is how to add new folders here, such as "My Games", "My Programs", etc. If possible, could you also tell me were do I find, and how do I set special images to these folders like the default "my" folders?
  13. Is there a way to do that using a pen drive or another type of mass storage? I know my mobo supports booting from it.
  14. Another weird thing... my windows cd doesn't boot unless I have the IDE HD installed. I mean, it doesn't even get to the blue screen where it loads drivers.... It is was slipstreamed by me to include SP2 and the sata driver...
  15. Here is the thing: I have my computer on Dual Boot, Windows XP and Linux, using GRUB (a linux bootloader) and both OS were installed on the single 120GB Sata HD. I installed a spare IDE HD I had, moved some data from the windows partition to it, and procedded to format it. Installation went smoothly, and, as expect, windows installed it's own bootloader, and I lost my ability to boot linux, but no problem. After moving the data back to I removed the IDE HD and had the unpleasant surprise to see Grub was back in place... For some reason I don't know, windows installed itself in the SATA HD, like I wanted, but installed it's bootloader in the IDE HD. Is there a way to make my windows install work again, without having to do a full reinstall?
