  1. Same problem here. I've been testing a couple of hours (6 hours at least, thank god there's VmWare).

    I've been able to narrow it down to ohotfix.exe as well. I do an unattended install of WinXPSP2 build with RyanVM updates and the updates supplied by Driverpacks.net (KPD for all drivers enabled). WPI starts as the last command in RunOnceEx. When I select Office 2003 Pro (full options) and Service Pack 2 updates, at the end of the Service Pack 2 updates I get the same error (same line numbers, so probably not related to config.js or rb_config.js). Just before the error appears, the WPI progress box turn to white (only the top bar with the three buttons at the right is visible). SP2 is still updating at that time. The progressbar will fill up 1 more time, completely (starting at 0%). After that the process hangs.

    My SP2 directory contains mainsp2ff.msp and the three ohotfix files. The entry in WPI consists of three commands. The first and third are a "%sleep% 30". The second is "%wpipath%\Install\Office2003ENUpd01\ohotfix.exe" (whitout the quotes). There are no spaces in %wpipath%.

    It appears that at the end of SP2 a process runs that conflicts with WPI. I don't know if anyone can disect .MSP files to see what the potential problem is?

    Running from a USB stick I haven't encounterd any problems for at least a year, probably more.

    BTW, ohotfix is included in every full-download-hotfix for office, just extract with your choice of compression tool (Winzip, WinRar, whatever). Ohotfix.ini might need some tuning before it works the way you want it.

  2. When I think about my previous post some more, this could be used to work with multiple templates. Make one selection on the top of the WPI screen, and multiple programs will be selected. Much like the groups as they are now, but more flexible.

    Combined with colapsible groups it could be possible to start WPI with only 3 or 4 main options, and the rest of the screen is collapsed or hidden. Only when it is necessary to make a more diverse selection, the full list could be shown (uncollapsed).

    Or am I now talking about version 7.8?

    :whistle:

  3. Another thing for the future....

    I've got a couple of programs that all have the same update. What I want to be able to do is make three entries for the applications and one for the update. Installation order is tweaked so the upate will be fourth in the list. Now if either one of the three applications (or more) are selected I want the update to be selected automatically. Preferable without the user being able to modify the selection.

    And a second idea.... It might even be a hidden item in the selection list (since the update is mandatory in all cases). This could ofcourse be used for other mandatory updates as well (JRE or .Net framework). Since this item is hidden it must be always selected or it must be able to use options as described in my first idea to be able to turn it, other wise there is no sense in it, of course :)

  4. @SiNNuT

    I am just fidling around with 4.2 and came across the same problem. I agree there is no answer given, yet. Not in this thread, and not the one oneless is referring to.

    BUT....

    his remark in the other thread made me think and experiment a little. I found that if your locales are set to anything other than English (United States) it doesn't work. (I actually only tested Dutch(Netherlands) but I assume the problem exists with other languages).

    Then there is the audio problem. If you disable the option "Play audio in WPI" than you get the error in line 138.

    So this is a work around (this realy is NO solution)

    * set locales to English (united states)

    * configure WPI with the option "Play audio in WPI" set to Yes!

    <edit>

    Oops, after some more tweaking I found the language isn't an issue.

    BTW, the thread referred to by oneless is still active. There are more people with this problem. Go check back to that thread for moer info.

    </edit>

  5. I know, the search works. And I found the page you refer to. But that's just the problem I described. The page you refer to is telling my how to make an administrative install, and update that administrative install. I don't want an administrative install. I want to be able you use the officeupdate page. And on an administrative install this is not possible.

  6. I'm working on an unattended Install DVD (don't we all) and everything is working so far (thanx to the great manual and this forum) but one bugs me. Since My unattended install will be used on a softs of computers, with all sorts of different users I don't want to use an administrative install for Office. An administrative install can not be updated through the Office Update website.

    Using Ohotfix can solve this. During the phase the applications are installed, the Office 2003 updates are installed as well. But tweaking the ohotfix.ini file does not give me satisfying results. The best result I get is a popup at the end of the hotfix install. And that is by deleting ohotfix.ini (thus using the defaults).

    Is there anyone who had the same problem, and solved it? It's probably just 1 or 2 two adjustments in ohotfix.ini but I've tried all my options... I think.

    Thanx
