OK, not that I am surprised in any way that the message screener (smtp filter for ISA2000) works this way but I have to ask to see if there is another way to do this. Our ISA2000 server is setup to publish (externally) the internal interface hosted smtp server. The mail is then relayed from the internal ISA smtp server to our internal exchange server. This works great. Until recently though, we had our exchange server delivering mail directly outbound (not using the isa seerver as smart host). However, to be technically correct in our dns and reverse dns lookups for smtp, we have changed our internal exchange server to use the internal ISA server smtp server to be the smart host for delivery. This works great too. However, the problem that I am having is that we are using the message screener to strip off specific attachment types (specifically in this case .zip) and it is also stripping off the zip files that are being sent outbound from our employees. As 95% of all inbound zip files are virus-filled, I really don't want to unblock them from being stripped, but at the same time the internal users still need to send zip files out. Here is the meat of my question: Can the message screener be configured differently for outbound mail and inbound mail? Can anyone out there think of a solution to this problem? Thanks, CounterStrike
