It took me quite a while to isolate this problem to an nLite configuration however, there is some form of a bug introduced through nLite that causes my dial-up modem to hang. I don't mean hang-up but it simply stops working. If you listen in on another phone you can still hear the carrier noise from the modem but you cannot communicate through it. If you disconnect the phone line and then plug it back in and attempt to dial another connection, the modem does not respond. The only way that you can re-establish a connection is to reboot the computer and try again. This is an intermittent problem that often rears its head after you have been connected for several minutes. I tried using different modem cards but got the same result. I have the same version of nLite XP on both a desktop and a laptop. this modem problem occurs on both machines. When I use the modem with a full version of XP it works fine. I recently reconfigured XP with the latest version of nLite and ran into the same problem so it is not related to a specific version of nLite. I am really curious if anyone else has come across this problem and has found a solution. Any suggestions as to whether a specific XP excluded module may be causing this?
