  1. No you can't but you can by Reverse Integration!

Might seem like a bind first time you do but it has it's advantages. You can add any apps you want. Office, Nero etc. etc.etc.

Follow these instructions but don't add the Service Pack (Assuming you already have it)

    WinBeta

  2. if your using Nlite the easiest way is to copy CD1 in the normal way then close Nlite. Drag the CMPNENTS folder to the new folder you created with Nlite. you don't need to merge anything. If your after trying to get MCE on to a single CD that's easy without actually sripping any System files out. Firstly in the CMPNENTS folder remove the TABLETPC folder. Then you can remove all the upgrade folders as you can only upgrade an older version of MCE so it's not needed. Then strip out the languages. Your new MCE Disc should then only be about 600mb.

  3. A word of warning about KB910393 which is a Hotfix (More DRM crap) for Media Player 10. Do not try & intergrate it with Nlite or HFSLIP. After first boot of installation it will grind to a halt saying that WMPLOC.DLL is not a proper Windows component. If you wish to install it go by the RunOnce method again using /quiet /norestart.

  4. You can't slipstream .Net in HFSLIP it has to be a silent installer. You can't slipstream MCE updates as MCE is not part of the Operating System. (I386 folder) You should read the instructions at HFSLIP they are very detailed.

If your using an English disc you must use english updates. As for install of unattended MCE updates the only way is by RunOnce method. the switches for Rollup2 & January Rollup for MCE 2005 are /quiet /norestart . As you already know NetFramework must be installed before Rollup2 or it will fail. As for the language pack? I have no idea.

  5. You don't need to play around with anything. Just put the 'CMPNENTS' folder in the same folder as you put disc 1. You may want to remove the Tablet folder from the 'CMPNENTS' folder & thtat's a saving of 84mb to start with. By the time you've removed the Languages (99mb) MCE will fit on 1 700mb disc. Just make a bootable ISO & burn!

  6. Do a search (All Programs/Search selecting whatever your DVD drive letter is)on your recovery disc for the following. They can't of changed these!

    MEDIACTR.CAB

    PLUS.CAB

    SONIC.CAB

Make a new folder named 'I386' & place these .CAB files inside.

Then make another folder called 'MEDIACTR' & place the 'I386' folder inside that.

Then make yet another folder called 'CMPNENTS' & place the 'MEDIACTR' folder inside that.

    Now search your disc for:

    NETFX.CAB

Create a folder called 'I386' & put NETFX.CAB inside it.

Then make a folder called 'NETFX' & put the 'I386' folder inside that.

Now put the 'NETFX' folder inside the CMPNENTS' folder you created in the first part of this post.

Then, hopefully you should be in business!

  7. The folder you are looking for is named 'CMPNENTS'

As you said the disc is full of bloatware etc.. & probabaly unrecogisible as a normal OEM MCE disc due to the manufacturer playing about with it.

As it's asking for a 2nd disc this a good sign. Just pop the 'CMPNENTS' file in with rest of your installation files.

  8. Just finished scan with Trojan Hunter & got these results. WPI is not currently installed but I have the zip file on my secondary drive. These are the only resuts found & all in WPI.

Progs\WPI_v4.3.8.rar/CloseAudio.exe/COeJ.exe because it is contained in an archive

Unable to clean trojan file D:\The Rest\Odds & Sods\Unattended Install Progs\WPI_v4.3.8.rar/cmdow.exe because it is contained in an archive

    Trojan cleaning finished.

    PWSteal.Agent.104

    Riskware.HideWindows.104

  9. It's not the encoder because I added that as an after thought & I wanted to replicate the error report that I had stupidly deleted before creating my first ISO which also had the DX9 error.

    DLL's in Encoder are:

    W95INF16.DLL

    ADVPACK.DLL

    W95INF32.DLL

By Installer do you want to know where I got the DX9 from or the Encoder?

    Anyway will give both links:

    DX9c (Feb)

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...c9-8db1bc10b16e

It's the same as in your list of Hofixes & Updates.

    WMEncoder9

    http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details...&displaylang=en

I'm thinking perhaps I should experiment & use an earlier versionof DX9 & drop the games bineries.

  10. I didn't want to start a new thread for what is probably an obvious mistake by me slipstreaming DirectX 9c (Feb) on Windows 2000.

Everything has gone great. Everything I put in is there but when I checked dxdiag to ensure DirectX had installed I found the following error:

DirectX Files Tab: The file msdmo.dll is an old version, which could cause problems. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

Please find the my HFSLIP error report & DxDiag report at bottom of this post.

Thanx Guys & keep up the good work!
