  1. Thx for being patient with me, cheers
  2. Ok will do, think im going to just streamline the following with nlite, Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.2.0.1001 for Windows XP, i just extracted and just 1 folder with the txtsetup.oem file in it, and i think thats the proper driver i need, as the marvel driver is just for the ide slots, if i added more sets of drivers to nlite, it wont do any harm will it ? as xp will only use the right ones correct ? just means it will have more to chouse from.
  3. i know you say sigh but i ask because in some driver folders there aint any files, just the txtsetup.oem file on its own, and other folders on there own.
  4. No, will the txtsetup.oem file tell nlite what drivers to add then from my unwrapped exe driver folder ?
  5. Cheers, yeh i think i will try a few things, thx
  6. because different people telling me different stuff, also when i posted photos here of the drivers i had tried to extract, know one actually told me what to point to when adding to nlite. but i am very grateful of all advice given to me, cheers
  7. Ah i thought the registry trick only worked on win 7 and not xp, and there are no sata drivers for xp anyway for my motherboard, well there is but there wrapped in a exe it seems.
  8. yes he said if i set bios to ide mode, but he said the sata hard drive would still be seen if in one of the sata 6 ports on the board, and would still benifit from the extra sata speed than a old ata/pata drive gives you, the only thing missing would be AHCI and a few other things. Oh i forgot, i know AHCI cannot be enabled on XP after install, but can the sata drivers be installed from desktop, as only drivers for my motherboard for xp are in exe format.
  9. I have been told that as long as you install xp pro with either sp2 or sp3 they include sata drivers, i was told this by a actual moderator over on the asus support forum for my motherboard, can someone confirm this is correct ? cheers
  10. Thankyou for that post, i will do some tests once i get my system up and running, i just wanted to make sure my new sata hard drive will still have some benifits connected to the sata port(even thou AHCI wont be enabled or sata drivers installed ) on motherboard over a old ide drive connected to the old ide slots, and allen2 confirmed it will be enabled as a sata drive still.
  11. Thx for confirmation, i hate being OCD over these things and asking the same sort of question over and over again, cheers for understanding.
  12. Thx again guys, so even installing a new install of xp pro on my sata hard drive without intel/sata drivers with the default ide setting in my motherboard bios, it will still be like useing a sata drive and not a old ata/pata drive correct ? its just that i will loose a little because its not AHCI enabled, but still the bandwidth will be upto 300 and not just 133 limited of a old ata/pata drive, cheers
  13. So guys, am i right in thinking, if i install xp pro with sp3 slipstreamed into my install disk, and install useing my asus p5ql pro motherboard useing the sata port connected to my install sata hard drive with bios set to ide, i do not have to slipstream the sata ahci/raid drivers in if bios is set to ide and i do not want to enable ahci or raid in the future ? i mean will i still get the sata hard drive working to its 300 speed spec, i know it dont actually get any where near that, but i mean will i be getting the full benift from my connected sata drive compared to just a old pata/ata hard drive, i just want confirmation please / cheers

  15. Thankyou very much again, if i wanted to use the ide slots as well as the sata slots would i have to install both sets of drivers from the floppy, cheers
  16. Thank you again for your time explaining this to me, and if i went the F6 way of loading the drivers when asked, if i connected a floppy drive to my pc, would i just be able to copy the files iaAHCI.inf, iaStor.inf and iaStor.sys straight to the floppy and not have to add the 2 edited files, cheers
  17. Thankyou, right now dont shout at me , and think im thick, but the intel chipset ich10 drivers is to make the 6 sata ports work on my motherboard correct ? so i would not have to slipstream the ahci or marvel drivers with nlite onto the cd as well ? Oh, and is ide and sata in the bios the same speed really, i mean if i had sata drives conneted, and ide set in the bios, will i still get the 300 speed from my sata hard drive, and not just max 133 that ide drives give me, cheers
  18. If i installed win 7, would i still have to do all this flapping around ? or would all the correct drivers be installed while loading win 7 os. Oh and i do trust you, but i just dont understand how asus can be so wrong, and all the 1000's of users useing this motherboard worldwide either, surely if the official sata drivers on there website and on the install disc that comes with the motherboard was wrong, know one would be useing this board with there sata drives.
  19. But both my manual and that spec sheet link you gave say Marvell® 6121 and 6111 SATA controller ? surely that cant be wrong, or the sata drivers on the motherboard disc i have, otherwise 1000's of people worldwide would not be useing this motherboard would they with there sata drives ? all very confusing to me, what about the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.2.0.1001 for Windows XP on my asus motherboard download support site, aint that the same as the ICH10 "Intel® 82801JO I/O Controller" you mention, surely asus must be correct in there driver section for my motherboard ? Oh, and marvel wiki says its a sata driver as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvell_Technology_Group_chipsets
  20. Thank you for the reply, and you have confirmed to me the files i need, i had already downloaded them ready to slipstream into my retail xp pro sp2 disk, along with sp3, but both of the driver files i downloaded are exe programs, and as original post i am not sure what files to add to nlite when it comes to the drivers section, would be a great help if you could just download the 2 drivers you listed for my motherboard, and let me know what files i need to add and point to nlite driver section, infact no need to do it with the sata driver, as in above posts i already posted screenshots and inf files, if you could just tell me what to add to nlite, cheers
  21. Im so confused about this, do i add my asus motherboard sata drivers to xp slipstream or not, or is the intel ahci drivers the same thing ? or do i add both sets of drivers, what really confuses me is, that my motherboars manual does not mention anything about installing ahci or sata drivers before installing windows xp, it just says put the disc that came with the motherboard in drive and run and that will install all the drivers for everything, or am i missing something here ? cheers
  22. Thx for reply again, but am i correct with the sata drivers ? above, i mean i still need to install sata driver to xp disc so that it can boot from a sata drive on xp, oh and cant i just use the acpi drivers on my motherboards asus download site, or the achi drivers on my motherboards install disc ? or is that only if installing windows 7 or vista ? cheers
  23. Thx for reply, i am very new to this sort of thing, but i went to asus website and put my model number in, and it pointed to the above sata drivers, and when i went to marvel website, it also said these were the right sata drivers for my motherboard, so where would i get the right sata drivers from ? and surely if im useing sata drives i would not want to use ide in bios surely, as sata is alot faster than ide. cheers so ahci has nothing to do with sata drivers then ?
