Try to hit ctrl+alt+delete... bring up the task manager and then goto File.. and run EXPLORER. That should do the trick..enough to get you going and troubleshoot. A-

RunOnceEx - Reg.exe problem

You should put those reg keys in a batch file and have it execute. Look in the unattended guide on how to import registry fixes. -

Computer name? Duplicate name on network?!
Sidekicks replied to Sidekicks's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Astalavista, When I tried to change the computer name of the machine, I get this error: The following error occurred validating the name "CPU". You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Goto System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again. Any suggestions on this? Here's my winnt.sif file on UserData: [userData] ProductID=Serial goes here FullName="-" OrgName="--" ComputerName=CPU I don't see anything wrong...or am I overlooking something? Thank you for your help -
Computer name? Duplicate name on network?!
Sidekicks replied to Sidekicks's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
the real pc which I run VMWare on is named 'HOMER'. Yes, I use the Simpson's family as names. Makes things easier! anyway, I try to change the computer name inside VMWare and it won't let me. It gives me an error but I don't have it with me now. When I get home from work, i'll write the error down. Andy -
Hi there, I was doing the unattended setup and I have my computer name setup as 'CPU' on a workgroup called 'NETWORK'. Upon installation in VMware with no other VM machines, I get an error that says 'DUPLICATE NAME EXISTS ON THE NETWORK'. I go and check the computer name, its a random computer name! For example, "KSJDJFIEWLKNDS". In my winnt.sif file, the computer name is specified. I've tried it with and without quotes but I get the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi there, I just finished putting in PowerDVD5 for my unattended, but I just ran across another CD that says Power DVD XP. Is this the same as Power DVD 6? and yes, I tried a search already. Thank you.

Hi all, Ok, I know for a fact I'm gonna get hammered on this so please be gentle. I have Adobe 6 Professional with the distiller. After countless hours of reading the forums and guides, I decided to install this on the unattended. I'm currently using Runoncex method on other apps and it seems to work fine. Although I notepad most of the stuff, I double check with Runonce. Upon installation of Adobe 6, all I get is the start up screen where you have to hit NEXT. I have tried the install shield method, all different kinds of installation from the command line, etc, but nothing seems to work. For example, REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Adobe Reader 6" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\apps\AdobeReader6\AR6.msi /qn" /f or REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Adobe Reader 6" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\apps\AdobeReader6\AdbeRdr60_enu_full.exe -p"-s /v\"/qn\"" /f I did find one installation where you have to create a registry entry first then do the install. I can't seem to get a difinitive answer by reading all the forums s and its being a royal pain in my butt! LOL. I have done searches on this topic also, sadly to say, I get the same result. HELP! What is the BEST way of doing this install? Thank you and Merry Christmas. Andy

Hi there, My nephew had just purchased a new laptop and it was working fine. He was able to look at www.miniclips.com to play little games and stuff. Well, it was ok until my sister-in-law decided to install AOL IM. After installing this program, he is not able to goto miniclips.com anymore. When going to www.miniclips.com the screen says there for a second, then it gets redirected to http://channels.aol.com/(i forget) and he gets a ERROR404 File not found. I checked his host file and it was fine. Everything else was fine but I cannot seem to figure this out. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Thank you in advance! Andy

Hi there, I have a XP cd with SP1 integrated into it. Can I slipstream SP2 into this cd? Would that mess anything up? Thanks! Andy
