  1. thank you "submix8c" but that was NOT quite what i was looking for. i've noticed you are the only one who replied i assume this web site is dead. but i will make my self more clear that screenshot is the start menu right after windows installs you notice how it has "manage your server" and "windows explorer" i am looking for the file to edit to NOT have the "manage your server" and "windows explorer" app icons i want to put an link to a folder on the setup cd that has installers to so it would look like this

(windows server 2003 os)i've looked at the hive files on setup disk, inf files, resource hacked through most of the DLLs and EXEs went through REGINST and REGISTRY in mys.dll, ect. to see if anything covertly adds it to start menu, but every file i've looked through has nothing about pinned items.. i do know oh yeah can simply have a script delete *.lnk from startpage, but i would like to know exactly what file governs the creation of pinned start menu items during installation. it is just bugging the hell out of me that i cannot figure this out my disc is almost done also im new here i do browse this site from time to time. great website! THANKS guys
