Yes, the laptop runs as normal on either battery or mains !, it just will not actually complete the boot process on battery power ?

Hi, Hav recently bought a Toshiba 1620CDS, 2nd user. It has winXP installed. The problem is it will NOT boot on Battery power alone !? It starts to boot, it gets to where Win XP logo appears and the status indicator moves across the screen but stops 3/4 the way along and it just sits there. It boots ok with the AC adapter attached. any ideas would be welcome. Thanks
