  1. hello magicandre

I found the solution for my problem, it wasnt system internal, the hdmi interface of my monitor was the problem. when I connect my card through dvi/vga, the cpu spikes disappear.

I changed the mini-hdmi / hdmi cable, but that wasnt the problem. got the monitor on RMA, but only firmware updates were done.

so its a conflict, a misscompatibility of my card with my monitor through hdmi, which caused the high cpu usage.

will try a dvi to hdmi adpater or buy a dvi - hdmi cable for getting the cards output digital and not analog (vga).

thanks for your help and patience.

  2. I see that the inbox driver only supports the GTX 295 as highest card (C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_lh.inf_amd64_neutral_bc69f20e3115af59). Try to select the GTX 295 and force the driver installation. if this works and you still have the high DPC issues run a new trace.

If not, make a BIOS reset, restore the powersaving options/power plans, try also older drivers. Also check the temperature of the GPU, maybe the GPUs are too hot.

Also which PSU do you use? Maybe the PSU not not powerful enough for 2 cards.

    Hello again!

Failed to force GTX295 driver installation (This Windows version is not supported.)

So I reseted the bios to default values, restored the power plan to their default values (I use Max Power), installed the original box driver of the graphic card (258.56), changed the power cords of the gtx460 from 2 pcie cord 6-pins to 2 molex-to-pcie adapters (included with the gtx460).

The only thing that happened is, that the load switched from cpu3 to cpu2.

I checked the gpu temp, see *.gif in attachements.

Its a Thermaltake Thoughpower XT 675W, at the moment Im running one card over 2 molex-to-pcie adapters I mentioned above without changement.

Sounds like a broken hardware of the moBo to me. Softwarerollback should have eleminated any driver collisions, RAM's are ok, gpu-mem ok. Could check cpu with the OCCT cpu stress test and gpu stress test. When I connected My usb3 drive after the LAN party, I got an error message, Voltage overload on the usb3 port, perhaps it has something to do with that, cause the asrock p55deluxe3 has a optimisation of ther pciexpress lanes between graca and sata3 and usb3.

  3. so now you use the VGA driver? Can you use the 185.93 which is part of Windows 7?

no, at the moment, there is no driver installed, when I check it throug dxdiag. its displaying 1280 times something.

I removed the LAN cable after deinstalling the nvidia driver and restarted the pc. when he rebooted, he couldnt download a driver and he didnt install a driver.

I went to the device manager and hit update driver (without internetconnection) and win7 installed automatically 266.58. but after rebooting, the error appeared again.

should I choose select driver manually? or what how do I get the inbox driver installed?

  4. try to stop tools like Rainmeter and RocketDock.exe. Does this make a difference? Do you also have the issue if you remove 1 460GTX and only use 1 card (no SLI)?

I already had only 1 460GTX without SLI running in the last few tests.

Disabled most of the tools, no effect. removed the 460gtx from slot 2, put the 2nd 460gtx back into slot 1, run the system without tools, no effects.

  5. still the same. IRQ is still shared with your GPUs and Intel USB controller. Disable the Intel USB controller in the device manager if you use the USB3.0 ones. Does this make a difference?

weird. when I deactivate the the 3B3C Controller which shares IRQ with the graphic card, it disables the usb 3.0 ports, but usb 2.0 still working, so I plugged the keyboard and mice back on a usb 2.0 port.

    But no effects:

  6. which motherboard do you use? I can't see this from the trace. Also which USB devices do you use? Try to plug

them into a different port (not the one which shares the IRQ).

    Good morning!

    its an ASROCK P55 DELUXE3

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.de.asp?Model=P55%20Deluxe3

    USB devices plugged in:

Logitech Illuminated Keyboard with SetPoint Software Vers. 6.32.7, Driver 5.33.14

    http://www.logitech.com/de-ch/434/4740?section=downloads&bit=&osid=14

Kinzu Steelseries Optical Gaming Mouse with Software Vers. 1.0.10, Firmware 2.9.20

    http://steelseries.com/support/downloads

    on USB23.

Plugged the devices into front USB, then NEC USB 3.0 Controller:

    No changes.

  7. still the nvidia driver. Does it also happen if you remove 1 of the 2 cards?

    still occuring, 1 gtx460 in pci-e slot 2:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?9ifs917zk339bp6

still occuring when I put the other card into slot 2. did a further rollback on 275.33 with both cards, no success. the error dissappear when I deactivate the driver in the device manager.

  8. the nvlddmkm.sys causes the high CPU usage. it is version 8.17.12.9551 which should be the latest beta driver version. So go back to the latest WHQL driver 285.58 and look if this fixes it. I can also see that it shares the IRQ with the USB controller. So try to put your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 into a different PCI-E slot which doesn't share IRQ with other devices.

    thank you for the reply.

I have a SLI system with two gtx460 on it.

today I removed one and put it into slot 1 and this afternoon I swapped the slot with both cards (one card in slot2) didnt change anything.

after systemrollback I went back to 285.62 which is the latest whql driver but I'll check this out again. one moment.

  9. hello magicandre1981,

Ive got some troubles with my pc. after my last LAN party.

(High CPU3 (100%) usage, caused by Interrupts, resulting in Audio clicks and popping, dpc latency checker says everythings ok, checked and installed chipset graca raid controller audio drivers etc, made systemrollback (made before the LANparty without problems), graca memtest, memtest+86 on RAMs, switched graca's, switched psu cords of the gracas)

I recorded few seconds and I would appreciate if you could have a look on this trace:

    thank you
