  1. The First time I heard the beeps (constant rapid pulse) I did a Power button shutdown (Improper Shut down) as it had a black screen and nothing was responding, switching it back on from the improper shut down all was ok. All other times I have seen the windows boot manager has been because I have did a (windows) restart or the last time it had been because windows had completed an update and wanted to restart to coplete the update. The guy from HP help center sent me two links via email for driver updates, this was to test to see if these updates would cause the windows boot manager to come up during the restart part, which it didn't. Because of this we thought it might have been a windows problem?
  2. The Notebook is a HP Pavilion DV6. If the windows boot manager is a common occurance during a manual restart, why has it only recently come to my attention, and why have the people at HP help center never heard of it as I contact them first before posting this. They got me to update a file in order for the notebook to complete a restart and it rebooted ok, yet when we did a manual restart the windows boot manager came up. The first time was due to windows wanting to restart after an update. Is this always going to happen? The alarm was more of rapid beep-beep-beep like a pulse.
  3. Hi to all. First time poster here so please be gentle with me. I have an issue with my Laptop that seems to have come from nowhere that is starting to worry me. I have recently bought a new laptop which is running windows 7. I had been surfing the net but needed to take the dog out. On returning I found that while I had been away windows had run an update. So when I came back to the laptop it informed of the update and that a system restart was required in order to complete the update. I let it do its restart and went to make a cup of tea only to return to find it making a bleeping alarm sound with a clear black screen. I’m not that clued up what to do in situations like this so I panicked and powered the laptop off by keeping the power button depressed for a few seconds. Switching it back on, everything seemed ok so I was not that much concerned about it. About a week later my wife had been on the computer and she shouted on me to come and look at the screen. It was a black screen with “Windows Boot Manager” at the top under it said “Choose an operating system to start or press Tab to select tool (use arrow keys to highlight your choice then press enter)” the arrow keys didn’t do anything nor the enter key. As it only had Windows 7 highlighted I realised there was no other choice for operating system so that’s why the arrow keys never did anything. Under this was written “to specify an advanced option for this choice, press F8” But again the F8 key never caused anything to happen. Under this writing it had “Tools – windows memory diagnostics” What is going on here can anybody tell me what’s happened and how to fix it as it is happening every time there is a manual system restart or an update.
