  1. I actually did reply, but I could post, I froze up again and got locked out. I Reboot, but I couldn't get back online again until now, about 3 hrs. later. WEIRD. So, before I freeze up again, I checked the cooling fan, and it's working fine. I removed Symatec by the reinstall of Windows so couldn't go back on that one. Also, no AntiSpyware Beta was installed. Just the two I mentioned, Spyware S&D, and Adaware SE. Not sure about the bad wiring, but I'm gonna check it out. My system is turning on about 6 or 7 yrs old now, so it's probably time to start rewire the old dinasour anyhow. I'll keep digging around. As soon as I find a remedy, I'll post it just in case anyone else comes up with the same problem. Oh yeah, missed one... I did do a system restore, but ended up with the same scenario. But thanks for the suggestion..... As for the power supply, do I change my cord or is there something internal I should update or be concerned about??? Thanks guys.....
  2. I have a Compaq Presario 7585, with Windows XP Pro, since the New Year came around, I've been experiencing some serious freezing no matter what screen I'm on, even on my Desktop. When I reboot, it goes away only temporarily and starts up again. I had Norton Antivirus on my system, but it couldn't find anything to clean out and fix the problem. I also ran Spybot S&D and Adaware SE edition. I even reloaded Windows XP Pro out of frustration and started my programs from scratch again, but still have the same problem. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, or what I can do to fix my glitch in my system??? I'm assuming Virus or Trojan, worst case scenario.... Hope not..... emvee B)
  3. Thanks, I'll check it out....
  4. When I go to IE, Properties, then Security, I can' t Reset any of the Security Levels in any of the options, INTERNET, TRUSTED SITES and RESTRICTED SITES. At least not since I installed WinXP SP2... Any help on this one???
  5. I get ya MCT, thanks. Crahak, My system started out with Windows 98SE, but later upgraded to XP Pro awhile back. So I don't have a recovery disc and the upgrade done by another, is no longer available. Anyways, thanks, I'll figure some else out. emvee
  6. Hi, new around here and I'm hoping you good folks can help me out, if you don't mind. During a restore I was performing on my system, I got locked up after restore completed, but never came back up when the system automatically began to restart. I don't have a recovery disc and attempted one from my neighbors system which was not compatable due to different model numbers but same computer, Compaq Presario. All that comes up during initial start is the COMPAQ logo and Windows XP Pro start up window, everything locks up after that. I'm assuming all has crashed, so I want to due a full installation of Windows XP, either, Home or Pro. Without spending hours looking thru files, can you tell me if there is a full installation file available here for download? Also, where I might look for it here. Sorry to sound pathetic begging, but I using my computer at work to ask questions since mine is down at home, and I can't spend too much time with away from my job without eyes wondering around. Hope you guys can help me out here, I'm in desperado mode and my kids are impatient at home to get my computer going again. Honestly, I think they're making a plan of attack if I don't get it back together soon...... Thanks, emvee B)
