  1. That's correct. This applies to both my desktop and the Windows 2000 VM under VMware Player. This is indeed very strange and from the way I'm providing more information, something could be wrong with UURollup v10 itself. I have attached three logs in a single text file. The one from my desktop PC and the other from VMware. The first attachment of the log is from my main desktop. The patch was installed on the 20th of June: The second one is the first partial installation of UURollup v10 on a Win2k VMware machine: And the third and last one is a more complete installation of UURollup v10 on a Win2k VMware machine running in Safe Mode: Please look over these files for evidence of what could be wrong here. Update: I had to install Windows2000-UU-KBz2479628-v9a-x86-ENU.exe (v9 of WildBill's kernel) first before installing the Windows2000-KB2393802-v8-x86-ENU.exe (update) in a Win2k VMware machine as you mentioned before. Once the files were installed, Internet Explorer 6 worked correctly with the right mouse click and Character Map functioned well. However, even I installed the two files that you linked to, Firefox 13 and certain apps that were complied using MSVC 2010 would not work correctly. I'll probably need to compare the files from the files in the C:\WINDOWS\System32 directory against the files that were installed in a Win2k VM. I will leave WildBill's kernel installed until there is a resolution to fix the IE6 right click bug and non working Character Map.
  2. I tested Windows 2000 in VMware Player 2.5.5 with 256 MB of memory allocated. It was a clean Windows 2000 installation with all of the official updates installed. For me, it seems that right clicking the mouse in Internet Explorer 6 without UURollup v10 works well...with it, clicking the mouse with the IE6 browser crashes. But other than that, Internet Explorer 6 does run fine. I also checked the Event Viewer under Application Log and it threw a Event 1000 error: I have uploaded the screencap on to my Twitpic account with details regarding the IE6 crashing with UURollup v10: http://twitpic.com/a2s64h/full (Be warned that the image is 1024 x 2304 in size with three 1024 x 768 screencaps combined into one.) I was hoping that I try to do that when I install Win2k in Virtual PC 2004, but it seems that I don't have the time to do right right now. On a off topic note, I also failed to mention that Character Map (charmap.exe, using the Windows 2000 or Windows XP version) no longer works with UURollup v10. By using the Windows Task Manager, Character Map will use close to 18 MB before it quits! I was wondering if there was a fix to these issues that I mentioned above.
  3. Thanks again. I will give it a shot by installing USP 5.1, Update Rollup 2 and the five updates that you linked to. When that's done, I will report back if there are any problems. Just to be safe, I will have to disconnect both the 250 GB and 1 TB USB drives incase installing USP 5.1 turns off LBA48 support. Update: I installed USP 5.1, Update Rollup 2 and the five IE6 SP1 updates and it had no effect. Simply clicking on the right mouse button in Internet Explorer 6 causes the browser to crash. I even installed UURollup v10 in a Windows 2000 VM and right clicking on the mouse button crashed the IE6 browser. So the problem has to be with UURollup v10 itself in my opinion. Looking in the contents in Windows2000-UURollup-v10-x86-ENU.exe using 7-zip, I found that the kernel32.dll file has a date stamp of 2011-12-04 and it's 746 KB in length. It looks like that UURollup v10, which appears to be the final version of UURollup might have a buggy kernel32.dll. Can anyone retest UURollup v10 in a Windows 2000 virtual machine, run Internet Explorer 6 and right click with the mouse to verify that something is wrong with the latest UURollup?
  4. Thanks so much for the help. I have a few questions to ask. 1. I did a search for "usbd.sys", "usbhub.sys" and "usbser.sys" and I found another instance in [servicePackFiles.CommonFiles] and [sourceDisksFiles]. In the [sourceDisksFiles], would I either have to remove these files or change usbd.sys=1, usbhub.sys=1 and usbser.sys=1 to usbd.sys=0, usbhub.sys=0 and usbser.sys=0 since the files that you mentioned are buggy? 2. I already have Java 7u5, Adobe Flash 11.3 and Firefox 13.0.1 installed. I fear that installing USP 5.1 could break functionality with these apps designed for Windows XP and above as it could overwrite some of the DLLs that causes the apps to work properly. Will installing USP 5.1 overwrite the DLLs used in UURollup v10? Incase that happens, would I have to uninstall Java 7u5 and Adobe Flash 11.3? 3. In regarding to installing IE6, which official and unofficial updates should I install? All of them? 4. One of the hotfixes listed in KB article 824220 has two files - 143610_ENU_i386_zip.exe and 137076_ENU_i386_zip.exe. Which one of these hotfixes in KB824220 should I apply?
  5. Nope. This error only occurs if you use the right click on the mouse button. I updated from UURollup v9 to UURollup v10 earlier this month and it's unclear whatever this has to do with it or not. I recently had to reboot after a STOP 0x1E error occurred.
  6. Okay, it's been a couple of weeks since installing UURollup v10 on my PC. So far, everything looks good. However, when I open up the Internet Explorer 6 browser, it takes me to the Google default homepage, but when I right click with my mouse button, Internet Explorer 6 crashes with the following error: Also, by clicking on what data this error report contains, the error signature refers to the affected app name and the offending module: And by viewing the technical information about the error report, I get this: Exception Information Code: 0xc0000005 Flags: 0x00000000 Record: 0x0000000000000000 Address: 0x0000000007c5bfaf2 I'm unable to copy down the technical information regarding the error report as I can't find a way to do it. Can we investigate what could be causing kernel32.dll to cause a crash when right clicking the mouse under IE6 when using the UURollup v10 (which will be obsolete by USP 5.2 very soon)?
  7. Once again, thank you so much for telling me. I appreciate it.
  8. Thanks so much for the clarification. I can't wait for the final version of USP 5.2 to come out when it's done! :
  9. There won't be any new versions of UURollup. Thank you for telling me. When USP 5.2 is ready, would I have to uninstall UURollup v10 before applying USP 5.2 or can it be applied directly to UURollup v10?
  10. I agree. I tested it in a VM pretty well before I installed it on my main PC. I sure hope that there will be further improvements to the UURollup from here.
  11. I knew it and the problem has to do with the java.exe executable not working correctly.. GIMP 2.8 will not work correctly on Win2k as it will hog the CPU at 100% until you close it. Update (2012-07-11): The Java hang even applies to saving oekaki drawings when using Java 7. I don't think that this is a case in the latest update of Java 6 (which will be supported until November 2012). I think that I will have to do more testing of Java 7 under UURollup v10a and report back.
  12. Okay, I applied UURollup v10 to see whatever or not this fixed the Java windows app issue, but it still didn't work. Can anyone care to investigate what dependencies Java 7 is using to operate the buttons in the Java dialog window?
  13. tomasz86, it looks like that we have a problem with the latest UURollup as I installed it through a VM. I even disabled network sharing and find that it still doesn't work. I'm getting a "The parameter is incorrect." error message. I sure hope that there is going to be a UURollup v10a to correct this "The parameter is incorrect" error message that causes Win2k to not work correctly after UURollup v10 has been partially applied. Update: Okay, here's the reason. I installed the UURollup v10 the first time and got "The parameter is incorrect" error message causing the UURollup v10 to be partially installed causing Win2k to not work correctly. To fix this, I had to go into Safe Mode and reapply the UURollup v10 a second time. When that was done, I had to reboot the VM and UURollup v10 worked! After I test some software for use under UURollup v10, I will uninstall it and apply it on the host PC.
  14. Oh dear, I can't believe that James would do such a thing!
  15. The size of the UURollup is 48 MB and you're right. What I downloaded was the pre-release version of UURollup v10. Can you or anyone else provide a link to the official version of UURollup v10? I would like to try it out in a VM one again before I apply the update on the host PC.
  16. Okay, I recently downloaded tomasz86's latest version of UURollup (version 10) in VMware and when I attempted to install it, i ran into a error message stating that the "parameter was incorrect ", that UURollup v10 was partially installed and may cause Windows 2000 to not work correctly. And then when I rebooted, I was greeted with this fatal error message: System Shutdown The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. The shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Timer before shutdown : 00:01:00 (timer counts down to 0 before rebooting) I get greeted with the message below: The system process 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code 128. The system will now shut down and restart. When the system restarts, the shutdown error message continues to show up over and over. The only way to fix this is to go into Safe Mode and uninstall UURollup v10 and revert to UURollup v9b, which is the latest stable version until there is a workable version of UURollup v10. Is there a way to fix this error that I pointed out above that caused Win2k to not work correctly with UURollup v10 installed? I already did a back up of the hard disk image where the Win2k OS is installed in case something goes wrong.
  17. I guess the voting is something internal and not for users... That's what I've been thinking. It's obvious that the dependency issue will never get fixed for sure.
  18. Hi. It seems Windows can't get dialog focus. It also occurs with Extended Kernel. x Java 7 update 1 x Java 7 update 5 o Java 6 update 31 o Java 6 update 32 o Java 6 update 33 The browser recovers with terminate Java.exe I knew it. If Windows 2000 can't get the dialog focus properly, the Java 7 applet fails to work correctly either with UURollup v9b or the current version of KernelEx. As a result, the Java process fails to work and causes the browser to hang. I had to use Process Explorer to terminate the non-responding Java.exe process. And using Revo Uninstaller as tomasz86 pointed out didn't even work. I was hoping if UURollup v10 fixed this issue or not.
  19. I opened that page and it appears that Java is working as it reports it as "Windwos XP 5.1". What what is strange is that when I click one of the buttons in the dialog box, it causes the browser to hang. Sorry for not replying lately, but I've been slow and trying to catch up here.
  20. The problem might be that this bug might not even get fixed as Java 6 will hit EOL sometime this November. So far, no one has even voted for that bug.
  21. Okay. I managed to take a screenshot and upload it onto my Twitpic account. Here's a good example: http://twitpic.com/9w35hj/full When I use an oekaki application on my Opera USB browser, the app works fine. However, when I click on the F button, I get a option that I want to view the oekaki app in full view (Window view?). When I even attempt to click on the OK, Cancel or use the x check box to close the window, the Opera browser itself hangs and I have to restart the browser again. The same will apply to other browsers that have Java 7 support enabled. I have logging disabled. Should I enable the logs to determine what functions caused the Java applet and the entire browser to hang?
  22. Okay, when I installed the latest update to Java 7, the app ran successfully. The problem is that when I use a oekaki app to full view the drawing, clicking on any of the buttons in the Windows View dialogue causes the entire browser to hang! I tried to get a screenshot of the error, but it didn't even work. Is there a way to fix this? If so, I sure hope that it does in UURollup v10.
  23. Okay, can anyone check to see which dependencies the latest version of ImageMagick uses? Thanks. I can't tell which dependencies absolutely require either Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP SP3, because although the site set the official requirements, we don't know what entry point dependencies that it uses yet. There are not too many dependencies that do require Windows XP SP3 as far as I know. Some of the entry points available in Visual Studio 2010 do not even support Windows XP at all. Either Windows Server 2003 SP1/SP2, Windows Vista or even Windows 7. Visual Studio 2012 will cause a shift in lowest supported OS version from Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista SP2 for sure. I'm guessing the ImageMagick 5.x series do run okay on Windows 2000, I'm not sure.
  24. I knew it. I appear to be using that build that requires SSE3 support, this is most likely appear to be a bug and not a part of the official Qemu 1.1 Windows build release. SSE3 support often requires a dual-core processor and I believe that there are still a lot of Windows XP and Linux users that are on a processor without SSE3 support. Update (2012-06-08): More clarification on this matter. I just got in touch with Neozeed and he's telling me two things. 1. The latest release of Qemu is reporting the wrong version number as 1.1.50. 2. The flags of the compiler screwing things up to a point where requiring SSE3 instructions was required prematurely. Neozeed even suggested adding -enable-tcg-interpreter, but for some reason, it isn't even working right now. In short, I'm guessing that I'll have to wait until the official Qemu 1.1 Windows build comes out. Update (2012-07-10): The official build of Qemu 1.1 for Windows is out now. You can download it on that site here: http://lassauge.free.fr/qemu/release/Qemu-1.1.0-windows.zip Qemu 1.0.1 networking failed to work correctly and Qemu 1.0 didn't work correctly as a whole. Qemu 1.1 with networking and all of the critical features even under Win2k with the UURollup works properly now.
