  1. Ah, the tried-and-true HL2 benchmark. Not a real fair test considering HL2 is optimized for ATI cards. Look at the other benchmarks, particularly the unbiased ones such as 3DMark05.
  2. Mind providing a link? All the benchmarks I've seen the 6600GT paces out the 9800Pro by a good margin. The only way I see it catch up to the Nvidia if the benchmarks were all AA/AF tests.
  3. Pay the extra $20-$30 and pick yourself up a Nvidia 6600GT. That'll be much better than the 9800Pro.
  4. You're experiencing a hardware limitation in this case. HL2 and BF2 requires pretty intensive hardware to run at high detail settings. The objects popping into view (I'm guessing that's what you meant by "transparent") is just to help the card from being overwhelmed. I believe both games should have an option in the Display settings called 'Drawing Distance'. Increasing this slider or value will make the card draw everything so you don't have these pop-ins, but the game will run considerably slower.
  5. How in the world did this turn into a AMD vs Intel schoolyard fight? Both respective processors have their own specialities, whether it be AMD's FX series for gaming or Intel's general performance in everyday applications. For those of you who bash AMD so heavily, have you even own or even use an AMD processor before? To be concise, it's the truth that AMD is in the same hole as well. How much do you guys think it costs to produce an FX or X2 series processor?

  7. You are talking about your MSI board and trying to install the nForce 6.66 drivers correct?
  8. Wattage is only a part of what you look for in a good power supply. To make sure the the system runs as reliable as possible, look at the amperage ratings for the 3.3V, 12V and 5V rails.
  9. Interesting. I had the exact same problem with my Ethernet not working when I had the same board. I gave up on it and bought a D-Link ethernet card from a friend for $5.
  10. If you're going to game, you are going to be sorely disappointed with that MX4000. It will be pretty slow trying to run most gamer made within the last two years. Look around some more, there are some budget graphic cards that will blow that outdated GeForce out of the water. My uncle just picked up a 256MB ATI Radeon 9250 for $78, just to prove my point. EDIT: I really, really need to see if there are more pages following the first page.
  11. Thanks for that link. Even though it doesn't do me any good for my 64 bit Windows, I'm certainly still going to use it for my 32 bit, considering Creative hasn't update their Audigy 1 drivers in years. Can anyone provide me a link of the latest Audigy preview drivers? I "Google" it but can't find one, and Creative doesn't have it listed in their drivers either.
  12. Does anyone know where to obtain a working set of 64 bit drivers for the Audigy 1 cards? I have everything setup on my machine except I still have no sound.... I also tried Creative's preview drivers, but when I tried to install them it told me that it is expired and I can only uninstall. Help!
  13. This game comes out on the 21st, correct? I have been playing the demo countless amounts of time and can't wait for the retail version.
  14. Okay...?
  15. I think you probably need a faster CPU, and may consider upgrading the video card. The FX5200 is starting to show its age already.
  16. I have the full version, and I think it is a lot better than the first game. You are more involved in terms of Career Mode, since now you will have to drive your car to a body shop/performance/specialties shop if you want to mod your car. This one will also make you work for your money, since you find yourself broke quite often. Luckily you can do side races, and challenge people on the streets. You will have a lot more flexibility in tuning your car, as now you can run a dyno on it, tune/adjust the suspension, ECU, gear ratio and turbo this time, which means everyone will have a unique car. NFSU2 is a great improvement over NFSU1.
  17. I completely agree -- my grades are gonna flop.
  18. Yeah, you need to get the Pro version and get it registered so you can run all the tests. My friend registered his and he got a completely different score.
