  1. I'm using Vista Home Basic 32bit When I try to move a folder I created or the files in it which I also created I receive the following: You need permission to perform this action. I am the administrator on this machine no one uses it but me. I can't move it or delete it or change it in any way without getting the above message. The file I'm working with is on my external drive. I have never come across a problem like this. Can anyone help me please? Thank you
  2. Hello I am having some problems with vista. I tried to install a driver for my 7960 hp printer and they don't have a driver for that model, so I install a different one for it. well it ask me to restart the computer, so I did and now the computer will not start. It said bootmgr is compressed press ctrl, alt, delete to restart. What can I do to get this computer working again?
  3. Hey guys, I tried this on the Ubuntu forum, but no one seemed to reply. Anyways I'd like to get into BIOS so I can change the boot options to CD/DVD right at startup. I'm trying to get Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on this computer, but I can't seem to ever get into BIOS. When I start it up I get to the screen where it tells me to click ctrl + s to edit settings, or something along those lines. I do this, but it never lets me in. I also tried Pushing F8, but the screen is far too fast for me. Plus I'm doing this on an HD TV so that's not helping. Is there any way to get into BIOS through the desktop? I'm really getting annoyed by all this crap.
  4. I have a gateway desktop computer. My Kapersky is updated. I went to start my computer and windows would not load it just kept showing the loading bar. Then I tried to start in safe mode and it showed about 20 lines and then froze ( no matter what safe mode option I choose). I replaced the small battery on the mother board and that didn't help at all. I don't know what to do next. thank you
  5. For some reason my pc when I turn it off it always, every time, updates? Its been doing this for the last 2 weeks, surely this should not happen, it never used to do it, only on occasions.
  6. We handle confidential personal or business data almost every day. In order to to avoid being hacked, I am trying to figure out how to protect our data. Encryptng data is an easy answer but repeated encrytion and decryption of data everyday would be inconvenient chores. I am wondering how you guys safeguard from hackers. I also would like to hear your suggestion.
  7. I want to set up my background slide show to display certain backgrounds at certain times of the day. However, I can't quite seem to find documentation anywhere that says exactly how the picture change timer works. So, say I set it to change once a day. Does that mean it changes at midnight, or does it start timing the 24 hours right when I set it? What about if I set it to once every 6 hours? Also, if the computer shuts down or goes to sleep, does that affect the timer at all? Or does it still keep track of what background it should be displaying?
