Where did you add the modified ntdetect.com ?
If using WinSetupFromUSB 1.0X versions it has to be replaced in the small ISO file on the USB stick if it's already made, which is in folder WINSETUP, or just replace it in your source before using the program to create the stick.
I was just putting the modified NTDETECT.COM file in the i386 folder after running WinSetupFromUSB. Putting NTDETECT.COM in the i386 folder BEFORE running WinSetupFromUSB did the trick. Thanks for the input!

Ok, first I want to say thank you! I can not believe all of the great information and software that is here.
My goal is create a stripped down Windows XP and install via USB (like most people). So here is what I have done so far.
1. Ripped Dell OEM Windows XP SP2 disk.
2. Integrate SP3 with nLite
3. Integrate Service Packs (SP3) via RVM
4. Strip down Windows XP with nLite.
5. Apply DriverPack Mass Storage
6. Put on a 2GB generic USB flash drive via WinSetupFromUSB_1-0-beta7
7. Start the install process and on the Starting Windows screen I get the famous error.
0x0000007B (oxf78c2524, oxc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I have tried the following and I still get the error upon Starting Windows.
1. DriverPack Mass Storage (as stated above)
2. NTDETECT.COM hack via HEX editor
3. Adding to USB via WinSetupFromUSB and Novicorp WinToFlash 0.7.0010 beta. When using WinToFlash, the system does not even boot.
Please forgive me if I am missing something or if this has been answered already. I have looked through almost everything here in the forums and I do not know what to try next. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello all. I came across this site in a round about way trying to determine how to install Windows XP from a USB drive. I can not believe how much information is here! I can't wait to get into some small projects for myself!
