I removed the drivers for the CD/DVD drives but it ends up installing back when I restart so I'm not sure what to do to fix this.

I still see some spikes which show UNKNOWN. so a different driver still uses dynamic code. My guess is this here: GEARAapiWDM.sys Which tool uses this driver?

It's a CD DVD filter according to Latencymon.

I've tried updating the drivers online automatically (since I don't know the manufacturer) but the problem won't go away.

Looks like the problem isn't over, I'm still getting popping sound problems and it's apparently the HDAud.sys drivers that are at fault but I have no idea what to do.

Bought a keyboard and mouse with USB input and the problem seems to be gone.

I have a Reatelk HD audio drivers.

I've considered buying a new sound card but don't know if this would fix the problem

I posted my problem a few days ago and I feel stupid for thinking the PS/2 thing was something to do with the PS2 emulator I installed like a year ago but I see that ZodiacFlop is experiencing the same problem as me.

According to the Latencymon test, it says that the hal.dll, HDAudBus.sys and the i8042prt.sys drivers are causing the popping noises.

I am also using a keyboard and mouse with a PS/2 plug so I know that the drivers for these are causing the problems.

Going to try an USB/Keyboard mouse asap to see if this changes...

Only thing PS2 related I can think of is the PCSX2 emulator.

Hi guys, wanted to ask for some help.

I've been trying for ages to fix a very annoying problem with my computer which I've been experiencing since last year.

Whenever I use Skype and play a game or play music while playing, I can hear popping noises from my speakers, which lead me to believe that it was a problem with the drivers but updating did not fix it at all.

Yesterday I found this thread and I used Latencymon while the popping noises were occurring and it tells me that the responsible driver that is causing the popping noises is this one - "i8042prt.sys"

Isn't this a Windows 7 system file? If so, how can I fix my problem?
